Why no Varget and 300 H&H?

I have been looking for a load for my 300 Mag with Varget.
None listed anywhere I can find.
Emailed Hodgdon. Tech said no load data. Said Varget is a bit too fast.
Varget loads are listed for 300 WM, 375 H&H, 458 WM. Doesn't make sense.
Been shooting IMR 4895 loads that shoot great but I have a bunch of Varget.
I only have 1 lb of H4350.

Since the 300 H&H and 300 WSM are very nearly identical in case capacity I have been using 300 WSM data successfully. The Hodgdon 2021 manual has the following for 300 WSM and Varget, Winchester cases and WRM primers.

150 Speer GDSP 55.0 Varget 3008 fps 56800 psi
58.5 Varget 3150 fps 63800 psi

155 Hornady A-Max 55.0 Varget 2963 fps 54800 psi
58.5 Varget 3110 fps 63600 psi

165 Hornady GMX 51.0 Varget 2810 fps 56700 psi
54.5 Varget 2948 fps 63600 psi

165 Nosler Partition 54.0 Varget 2859 fps 56400 psi
57.5 Varget 2987 fps 63700 psi

Hope this helps

"A few years ago my friend Charlie Sisk, the well-known custom riflesmith from Texas, built a heavy-barreled .300 H&H and shot the rifle with half-a-dozen handloads in his indoor range. He then rechambered the same barrel for the .300 WSM and tried the same powders and bullets. Muzzle velocities and strain-gauge pressures were carefully recorded. Guess what ? The results turned out to be practically identical in every way, despite the extreme differences in case shape. The reason for this coincidence is simple: The powder capacity of both cases is practically identical". -- John Barsness, The Big Book of Gun Gack: The Hunter's Guide to Handloading Rifle Cartridges, 2015.

I have worked up several loads for my own .300 H&H by starting with .300 WSM data and had good results.

Cheers,
Walt

Varget is most likely too fast for the 300 Holland. It is for sure not optimum.
Although the case capacity may be the same as the 300wsm, there is a big difference in the powder stack height, and shoulder angles, I would not try to share load data between the two.
Cade capacity is all that truly matters. Case shape is a moot point as long as case capacity is equal. Case capacity will produce near identical pressure and velocity, not Case shape

I know it's not the question you asked, but if all I got was pushing 3000fps with a 165gr bullet out of any of the .300 magnums, I'd be disappointed. My .300HH really likes Vihtavuori N560. I get 3000fps with 180gr bullets out of it.

It's a hard time to be a hand loader right now, but I have been seeing Vihtavuori powders becoming available.
