Who wears shorts on Safari?

Who wears shorts on a safari? Simple. Young guys. I am too old. I am afraid that I would scare off the animals and the trackers.

Like these guys? Wonder what they are after?

So I’m heading back to the Eastern Cape next week for my 2nd safari. On my first trip there in 2024 the weather was cool so I only wore shorts 1 day.

Looking at the upcoming weather it looks to be in the mid to upper 70’s.

My only real concern with shorts other than scratches from thorns are ticks.

I’m torn between lightweight hunting pants and throwing in shorts some days. Thoughts ? Thanks.
I'm always rocking the shorts!

I wear shorts hunting as much as possible. If I'm stand hunting deer here in the States in cold weather then no, but early season and if slip hunting yes. Alway in Africa. If you're worried about ticks, use Picardan lotion. Whether in Africa, Texas or Georgia....if you're hunting in thick stuff with briars or thorns, long trousers are going to snag and make noise at the most inopportune time and blow a stalk.

Hey dude. I don’t know if you noticed, but one of those horns is kinda layed off to the side. What’s the scoop?

Also, why are you shooting a Hoyt when Matthews is available to the general public?

We guess the Impala broke the skull early in life and it healed. I’m told Impala don’t normally survive a broken skull plate. Other larger species tolerate it better.
I’m a sucker for ancient and or non typicals.

Yeah I eventually submitted and started shooting Matthew’s after that trip. Now I shoot traditional bows only. Don’t own a compound.

If I wore shorts in the bush, the anthropologists would consider me an undiscovered species.

All day every day!!!!!! Last trip I did hunt in jeans, we were night hunting and it was on the cooler side

I typically wear shorts on safari, but not always. When it’s chilly I wear long pants. I’ve got two African hunts this year, September in Mozambique and November in Zambia. Since it’ll be warm to hot and I’ll likely be getting wet it’ll just be shorts for sure, but I’ll still have a pair of pants packed for ‘just in case’. More important than pants will be an extra pair of Palladium boots so that I have dry boots to start each day.

I'm 61 and wear shorts, whenever I can.

If morning are cold, or I know I will be in thorns or biting insects, l will wear long pants.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
