Who wears shorts on Safari?

Long pants aren't protecting you from these at all. The soles of your boots probably won't, either.

These give a whole new meaning to:

Depends on my depends... if you get my drift.... After 70, shorts can get embarassing and the elephants knees look a bit better than mine..

In Tanzania was in passenger seat of cruiser with cab and doors removed....we were going at decent speed and my left foot was propped slightly outside of edge of door opening....a branch smacked my calf bout 3 or 4 inches below my knee...didn't think anything of it till noticed a small bit of branch looking like it was stuck to my shin....I wondered why it didn't fall off....so took a closer look as best as I could bumping around....found out it was bit stuck as it didn't move when I touched it....so gave it a tug....one of its thorns like those came out of my leg....been stuck in around 1.5 to 2 inches....threw away ...i was quite impressed at its hypodermic needle capabilities...as didnt feel a thing....:E Big Grin:

Well, solution is don’t skip leg day. ;)
LOL it isn’t an aesthetics issue. Just like I won’t leave the house without a collared shirt I don’t leave the house in shorts. Gym and pool excepted.

:E Rofl:....tell you don't live this side of the big bit of water......good to know there are a big number of undignified people over 40 here and surrounding countries.....I along with friends are well over 40....so we must be outrageously undignified being in our 60s and wearing shorts 80 plus % of the time....:D Beers:.......down to confidence...and having great sexy legs....wife loves me in short shorts ;)..oh and ps....also wear tshirt and jeans sometimes when we out partying in Lusaka....jeez I must be past saving :A Rock:
Trust me I’m in the minority. Just kind of the way I was brought up. No judgement on anyone who does but I don’t feel comfortable being that casual.

Are you a stick in the mud? Asking for a friend.

Probably.

But I would say I’m a middle ground guy in dress. Raise the floor and lower the ceiling. I won’t go out in shorts or a t shirt and hate ties. Basically some type of khakis and a button down or golf shirt is my ideal dress for every situation.

Reminds me of my grandfather, I never saw him without a 3 piece suit except when he was going riding in jodhpurs. Even then, he looked very similar to the photo below.

I prefer shorts. If it’s chilly I apply an extra top layer.

Hey dude. I don’t know if you noticed, but one of those horns is kinda layed off to the side. What’s the scoop?

Also, why are you shooting a Hoyt when Matthews is available to the general public?

I think that Texas should codify dress Bermuda shorts for church, etc. It is hot here--a lot hotter than Bermuda. I also recall seeing lots of pictures of older gentlemen in shorts in old black and white photos from back in the day. I'll hunt shorts unless getting TOO torn up in Africa. Just not in a vine ridden swamp bottom.

Oh come on....only a true archer shoots a customized Hoyt bow. All others shoot what ever the current "flavor of the month", ugly off the shelf bow.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The Hoyt archer shoots only animals that are as unique as his/her Hoyt bow.

Hoyt bows don't require a sound suppressor. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

So I’m heading back to the Eastern Cape next week for my 2nd safari. On my first trip there in 2024 the weather was cool so I only wore shorts 1 day.

Looking at the upcoming weather it looks to be in the mid to upper 70’s.

My only real concern with shorts other than scratches from thorns are ticks.

I’m torn between lightweight hunting pants and throwing in shorts some days. Thoughts ? Thanks.
It's shorts for me. Never been bothered by bugs or thorns. July mornings can be cold in southern Africa, I guess that's why I prefer October hunts.

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?
