The Cafe Terrace at Night is my favorite but I also like The Night Cafe, Starry Night and Wheat Field with Cypresses. Over the years the Potato Eaters has grown on me.

My wife was thrifting yesterday and she came home with this for our living room/trophy room from a Salvation Army store. Banovich is her favorite wildlife artist and my favorite artist overall after Monet.

If we ever get our taxidermy back from Namibia, the room is going to be stunning with her art collection.

I HAVE A CANVAS OF THE 4TH PICTURE!! (2 page buff herd) UNITED WE STAND
I purchased it a couple of years ago from a local about an hour away!
I wanted to post a "can you read this", because I couldn't make out the artist signature!
Now I see!

Please forgive me as I slide down a rabbit hole-

I sent a pm to red leg appreciating his own artwork. I also was interested in wildlife art as a kid and hoped to someday paint a duck stamp. This picture is one I did in elementary school with colored pencils. I never had paint as a kid and this “canvas” is actually a jc penny gift box, which I cut down to use for drawing. The inside had a rough texture that gripped the medium well. Not sure the uear but before I had noted the difference in mallard bill colors/patterns!
I found it when my parents were being moved out of one of their houses in a box with old report cards and school pictures and things. Glad my mother saved some of these old “doodles”

van Dyck paintings in person is much more impressive than they are in photographs or books. The textured physical portraits capture a tremendous amount of personality that somehow doesn't translate in to photographs.

There are several good threads on artists-before I continue hijacking’s them, perhaps a renewed thread on favorite artists. I’ll start with two of mine.
Bob Kuhn has been dead over a decade but I still love to look through my book of his works are daydream that I had been part of some of those adventures.
Rien Poortvliet is another genius artist-his book Noah’s Ark is priceless. His personal notes are as interesting as his painting are!
I have many but would like to hear yours, including the local artists from your countries.

Mine include Mort Kunstler for Civil War art and Thomas Kinkade, the "painter of light." Used to sit in the somewhat dimmed Kinkade studio at a mall and let myself get immersed into emotions Kinkade's paintings evoked in me.
I'd hang more paintings, but we are out of wall space.

That is sure true. I own the original pencil shading of the "Laughing Jesus" and photocopies never look exactly like the original.

Not my favorite, but I love this artist’s sense of humor. Some of his stuff is so funny and original. Had to get 2 signed prints.
