I'm trying to find out which powder they are using in their ammo. Reason is, it regulates pretty well in my rifle and my idea is to mimic their loads.

If someone doesn’t know outright, pull a live round and weigh the charge then post pics of the powder and charge weight.

I guarantee the brain trust of this forum can decipher the load.

I doubt if you will ever figure it out other than getting the weight and what the powder looks like.

The best that you can do is to chronograph it to learn the velocity and then dig out the manuals to see if you can match it.

That's what I did for my 340 Weatherby, only I just matched the velocity of Weatherby factory rounds with my own.

I don’t know if it’s much help, but I did call
swift 2 weeks ago and actually got to speak to the owner himself. The two office ladies were out to lunch and he was manning the phones for the hour. They had a couple boxes of loaded ammo for me along with some bullets I had ordered months prior and had to call and pay for.

Owner was very open and grounded. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind helping you in this manner. I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out and ask over the phone. He said he’s there at a minimum 3 days per week.

I can almost assure you it’s not a commercially available powder and odds are it’s a Federal 216 Primer which also isn’t commercially available. Rarely do any of the firearms manufacturers use a powder that’s available to us civilians.

You’ll need to chrono it, compare the burn rates to the books and see what powders are close with your barrel length. Weighing the charge might help, but odds are you’ll need to play around with it a bit to find the similar charge/burn rate because the powders we can’t get typically burn differently.

Owner talked to me for 45 mins when i called other year about the swift sirroccos.

Fact the owner took that much time to talk to me about reloading won me as a customer for life.
Well, he needs to get back to work and crank out more A-Frames!

I spoke with Bill a couple of weeks ago about another matter, but mentioned this site and said the general consensus is if he’ll produce .375, 416 or .458, we’ll buy ‘em.

That's both a good thing and a bad thing about a smaller business.

I remember when Randy Brooks purchased and moved Barnes Bullets to American Fork Ut. It was a small operation and you could walk in and talk to anyone but to full fill orders and to move forward they had to increase the business and lost a lot of the one on one discussions that they could have with a customer.

Back when Clinton was in office and primers were in very short supply I was checking out some of their bullet selections with a cousin who is related to Randy Brooks and mentioned that I was having a hard time finding primers. He went back into the back and got me a thousand primers to hold me over.

Sad that as a business grows it gets away from it's roots. But to be successful it needs to grow.

True but while efficiency needs to increase with scale you dint have to sacrifice customer service

As said, we probably can't get the powder or primers, pull a factory load, weigh powder charge, chronograph a factory load, if clocking 2150 fps with a 500gr bullet.

I'd gladly dump 108grs H-4831 and adjust up or down to match factory velocities, get it all lit with FED-215's.

When factory velocities are reached shoot for regulation, H-4831 will fill the case nicely without burdensome wads, fillers, pillow stuffing, cereal etc etc, plus, it will remain temp stable whether you're shooting at 20 or 120 degrees, good luck.

An easy and fun process to build your own loads.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
