With just the film it will scratch rather easy. They put an automotive clear coat on it so its as protective as your car's finish. Fairly strong against minor scratches and there are ways to buff it.
Gonna shine like a mirror....

Well...the finished product. The write in vote won

I'm not sure what I think of it. It has a metallic shine to it and imo would never pass for wood. That being said, its probably better than black. If I had to do it again, I'd probably go camo.

The 2nd pic is more accurate of its color

Thoughts?

Unfortunately I found this other one I like and can't edit. Feel free to cast a write-in vote for #4. Appears to be a darkish brown, black, with just a touch of gold/orange View attachment 418857
That gets my vote.I like dark wood on a blued rifle.

Definitely better than black.

To me it looks cheap, plastic.....plain straight grained wood would look better.....

Looks nice ! Does it shoot straight ?
@Rickmt - You beat me to it. Exactly what my wife just said, and by the way she likes the color. As long as you are happy with it and it shoots straight, who cares. Cheers.

To me, it looks like a brown woodlands camo and will blend in good in the field. As long as it shoots, who cares? It's a tool.

@Hogpatrol
I know some people who are right tools as well.
One person I know I call him drill bit because he is a slow boring tool.

Snow camo smokeless muzzleloader. It's a tool for killing whitetails in the winter.

I don't hate it, and I assumed I would. I am pretty much in the actual walnut camp, and if it is going to be synthetic then I see no reason to try to fake it. What I actually like about this one is that it is an interesting subdued color pattern that no one will think is wood. Gives the rifle a modern purposeful look. Wood finished plastic is rather like fiberboard with paper "wood" grain veneer. It doesn't fool anyone.
