Where to get meat pies in the USA?

The Kiwis seem to think they have better pies Nothing more Australian than a Meat pie.
Meat Pies should be Beef and then there are various flavoured pies.

There are tons of small bakeries making great pies and some are overrated.

Pies are not cheap now. I have paid just over $8 in my travels, yes a good pie but it’s getting up there for a quick bite to eat.

I agree. Meat pies are, in some varieties, made in a lot of places. I was in New Zealand 30 years ago and enjoyed them. This time around I was at a lodge within walking distance from Fairlie Bakehouse and my guide reminded me that they are “Famous” for their meat pies. And, in fact they are damn good! That said, there are a lot of places I’ve gone too that have local or regional foods that you should try. I’m looking forward to traveling to Australia and comparing!

I didn’t realize meat pies were a “thing”. They were enough of an oddity to me that I snapped a picture when I was in RSA last year.

Sautéed onions, mushrooms, and celery as the base in the gravy, then added carrots, peas, corn, green beans and chicken breast and thighs. Used a variety of seasonings that I prefer, beyond salt and pepper… No potatoes.

I would add that while travelling from Free State to Limpopo with my PH following a successful Cape Buffalo hunt and a disastrous Cape Buffalo hunting party where I was seriously injured by multiple bottles of bourbon. We stopped at a gas station for a break and I was feeling mighty rough. The PH returned from inside with a pair of beef sausage meat pie rolls. That was the best thing I had ever tasted. Being moderately hung over might have affected my judgement but I could have eaten those all week long. Could be the Scottish blood in me or the Scotch in my blood, lol.

I used to eat a sausage roll every day for lunch. Some tomato sauce on top . A gastronomic sensation .

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
