I am amazed you don't have pies in the US. I eat 3 or 4 a week.

Curry pie is a favourite in my area. Available in most shops and petrol stations. Other local specialities are Scotch pie (good but heavy) and macaroni pie. All good hot or cold.

Steak and kidney pie is superb hot and a pork pie is brilliant cold with piccalilli or English mustard.

Fray Bentos pies are available in the USA

They aren't as good as a home made or locally made pie and are widely known as a bachelor or student's meal, but I think they are good, particularly with brown sauce.

It amazes me that a country that can put men on the moon hasn't mastered the simple meat pie yet!

I question of priorities I suppose.

Some of the pies above look brilliant
We have several variations of a meet pie.

Chicken pot pie
Pasty’s
Others mentioned in this thread. Region driven or influenced.

I use a homemade pie crust, but I have a pastry crust I plan on using for a standard meet pie.

More to come…

Do you ever put in any cheese?
I think the meat and cheese burritos are America's answer to meat pies? sad, I know

Marinaded Elk steak and mushroom

Pork Belly and onion

Little bit of gravy…

I’ll make some prime rib, onions, and cheese meat pies tomorrow.

I made a homemade pie crust and used a puff pastry top and egg wash…

The Kiwis seem to think they have better pies Nothing more Australian than a Meat pie.
Meat Pies should be Beef and then there are various flavoured pies.

There are tons of small bakeries making great pies and some are overrated.

Pies are not cheap now. I have paid just over $8 in my travels, yes a good pie but it’s getting up there for a quick bite to eat.
The Fairlie Bakehouse is a bakery in Fairlie, New Zealand. The bakery is most famous for producing gourmet meat pies. Popular varieties include salmon and bacon, venison and cranberry, and steak. Their most popular variety is a pork belly and apple sauce pie, with a piece of crackling on the top.

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
