Where in DFW would you go to get fitted for a gun?

Most shops that do this, you’ll likely either need to pay for a full stock fitting or you’ll need to commit to buying a custom gun or custom restock.

It’ll vary per location I’ve seen $150 to over $1500.
It really depends on the details and length of the appointment. Probably also depends on if they want to take on the work.

It could be a 30 min appointment or could be a couple hours. Is it for a rifle or a shotgun? Is the intention to modify a current gun, custom order a gun, or restock a gun? When it comes to rifles there’s going to be a little bit of variation based on the rifle/stock design, receiver height, optics being used, so many variables and all you’re doing is spending money and time to get an appropriate. You can get similar information to ballpark it from seeing a tailor.

Also, often times the person that does gun fitting also goes to the range with customers. So you should definitely make an appointment. I think a full fitting is in the neighborhood of $250 up . From just basic measurements to shooting a pattern board

You may want to clarify with whoever you call. If you just want stock measurements or if you want a true full gun fitting with shooting a pattern board etc etc

This is super helpful. I am having a gun made currently (or at least in the que) -- my all-weather .404J synthetic project but unsure how much someone changes a McMillan stock. More I am having this done so I can have in my mind what dimensions I need and can think about when looking at used rifles.

I use factory shotguns and shoot them well enough. I have a first year issue SBE (back in the H&K stamp days) and several over and under 20's, 28's and one .410. I can shoot them all well enough and don't plan on competing or throwing a ton more money there. They can handle everything I do.

3 hours from North DFW. Well worth the round trip tank of gas just to check out all the guns in his vault and that he’s working on.. and he’ll do a perfect job with the fitting…

Coordinate the trip on a weekend that the Tulsa arms show is going on.. 4300 tables and over a mile of guns under one roof… chances are you’ll find something you want perfectly fitted there

I’ve seen some guys charge as much as $600 for a 2 hour session that includes a range visit… but they’re usually fitting pros, olympians, or people buying bespoke guns

I am 90% sure I don't mount correctly...all self-taught 50 some years ago.
