What knife are you carrying everyday right now?

(Stock photo) Old Timer Trapper. I get in a lot of knife fights so that second blade comes in handy in emergencies.

I’ve got the same one. Good old pocket knife.

Thanks, I will try it out. They also make a mushroom knife with an attached brush for removing the dirt and debris. There is also a filet knife. @rookhawk said the mushroom knife is great.

Every country gentleman in France carries an Opinel. Jacque Pepin the famous chef carries one everytime he takes a walk in the outdoors. The steel is very good for the modest sums their knives cost.

As @John the Electrician mentioned, we carry one of their foraging knives when we pick mushrooms and leeks, rather handle with its hooked blade and attached vegetable brush.

Since 1996 I've carried a Leatherman on my belt just about everywhere that I go. I'll usually also have a small folding knife in my pocket.

A few years ago when I shot my Leopard in Mozambique, when the camp skinners started to skin him, I took out my pocket knife, similar to this one, but with a 1 1/2" blade and asked them if they wanted me to help them. They all got a good laugh.

I just bought this knife recently. It is really simple. The silver collar around the hinge point on the blade rotates to lock the blade open or closed. The blade isn’t especially robust however it is very sharp.

I thought it was worth giving it a shot as it was only $23.

I've got one in stainless steel. it went to South Africa last time as my EDC. Also goes in my hunting pack as the back-up just in case knife.

I love the Opinel knives. I have an Opinel #8 or a Swiss Army knife on me daily. The Opinels are easy to sharpen and stay sharp.

I only carry it during hunting season. The story behind it is kind of nice. In 1968 I was friends with the sporting goods department manager of a chain store. They were discontinuing Puma knives and were selling off the display knives, I was admiring this one when he said I’ll give it to you if you will help me dissemble this display case. I couldn’t grab a screwdriver fast enough.

@Ryan
Mine is the carbon steel. Used to be my back up but after using it that razor sharp thin blade is ideal for making the initial cuts up the legs and bum to breakfast before getting the bigger knives out. They make a scalpel look blunt when sharp.

So many options, but I tend to settle on one or two so that I dont mess up the really nive ones.
A dragonfly G10 like on page 10, its Delica G10 brother are sometimes carried.

But the basic Endela and a Cold Steel American Lawman get the hard daily use most of the time.

The Opinel is one of the easiest knives to maintain a shaving edge I have ever run across. The reason I carried one for years was the fact that the knife will float which was important in my work environment at the time.

I went into a federal office, and they turned me inside out at the entrance-keys, watch, and phone. And when I left, I looked into the souvenir stand - and there were Bowie-type knives in the "gypsy chic" style, and that's such a charm.:

I just received this from Von Gruff. It’s quickly become my favorite.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?
