What is the best car you have ever owned?

My best car was 2008 FJ Cruiser, drove it for 10 years, nothing but oil changes and a set of brake pads and it never let me down. Sold it for the exact same price I bought it for, which at the time I thought was nuts and too good a deal to pass up. Truthfully, I regret selling it.
Yeah I bought this one a little over a year ago. only had 130k miles and never been in a flood area or where they salt the roads. and they are going up in price! love the darn thing. there arent too many cars i would buy with over 100k miles but toyota is definitely one.

I am not a car guy. Drove several European car brands probably unknown outside of Europe like Opel (Vauxhall) and Dacia but the best car, in the way of most reliable and economical friendly, was a Suzuki.

When my current car needs replacement I'll probably will look for a car made in Japan or Korea. They are just so good and almost no maintenance costs.
I drove a rented Opel Vectra 1.6 liter way back in 1990 on the autobahn on my first trip to Europe. drove it from frankfurt to zurich back when u had to stop at the border and show your passport.

That is funny my first car was a Opel Vectra from 1990 but than the 2.0 liter version. Loved that car but the maintenance costs every year were more than what I payed for the car. iirc 900 euros :ROFLMAO:

About to try the FJ Cruiser circa 2008 model for favorite car ever. We'll see what kind of deal can be made with a dealer. Any of you all out on the innerwebs a car dealer type, who can give me a bit of insight into the behind the scenes?

i cant tell u about the “man behind the curtain” shenanigans that car dealers are fairly or unfairly thought of pulling. all that i can tell u is that a absolutely love my 2007 fj i picked up last year. good luck!

I think I mentioned my Golf and my Hellcat previously, but I must admit that I'm really pleased with my current Subaru WRX as well, at least for the winter.

An absolutely fantastic snow car, far and away the best I've ever had. Subaru really have learnt a lot from their rally experiences, and it's both extremely competent and super fun on a low friction surface.

A great chassis, probably the best on-road AWD system money can buy, good weight distribution, intelligent traction control that allows you a decent bit of leeway to have fun, and the car leans oversteer more than understeer. It has good pedal spacing, nice short gears, just enough turbo lag to keep you focused in the corners, a decent exhaust note, and decent seats.

It's pretty well made, just about refined enough to be acceptable on a road trip, has loads of space, is very practical, and has a surprisingly good sound system. The gear box and shifter feel is not a high point, but hey, you can't be picky if you want a manual these days.

My only real complaints, the steering is a bit numb, the infotaintment is cheap, tacky, and will age like fine milk, they don't offer a model without all the annoying, pointless tech included, and it's about 500lbs heavier than it needs to be. But then that's true of every modern car.

It's a bit low on power to live up to its sporty messaging in the summer, but I have other cars for dry pavement.

Reliability, it's a modern car, and it's Japanese. I'm sure it'll be fine.

Toyota land cruiser, you name it, I had a great experience: series 70, prado 2000, prado 2006, iForce 2025 (this last one I haven had the time yet to put too many miles on it nor go outdoors).

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
