I've ordered a new barrel for my Weatherby Vanguard (300WM), utilizing a Howage nut system. I'd like to avoid sending my barreled action in, if possible, and have my stock barrel removed locally.

Does anyone here have a recommendation to remove my stock barrel in the Kansas City area?

Not sure what you mean by “Howa but system.” Barrel simply screws into action like most rifles. Any competent gunsmith should be able to handle the job.

I had this outfit handle some nitriding on a couple rifles. They had to do some extra leg work for me after the company that did the treatment lost some parts. I felt treated very fairly.

Screwing a barrel off would be no biggie I am sure. They did it on a Dakota 76 and a Legendary Arms Works M704 for me.

I made an action wrench for model 70 Winchester so I could ship the action only to Montana for a build. The barrel vise took some experimenting. The barrel was pretty tight and the barrel was hard to grip. But then, I am not a gunsmith……

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll give them a shout!

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
