Wanted 416 Rigby Rifle

Mmm....another new person turning up and saying want to buy this rifle in this calibre....sorry but in this day and age just ask mr Google....you will get plenty of results....getting kind of boring....:E Sleeping:....but for $5000 I might consider selling my cz 550 416 rigby that's only had about 5 rounds through it and barrel shortened to 21 inches...:E Hmmm:...nope decided I will keep it :E Shrug::D Beers:

I see your profile says you're in Oklahoma... I don't know the person selling it nor anything about the rifle beyond the listing, but there is a 416 Rigby on ArmsList in Little Rock, AR for sale for $2200, a Ruger m77. Listing says it's a 1976 and comes with two boxes of ammo. I don't know if it's against the rules to post a link, so I won't, but it should be easy to find and if you're serious about one, Little Rock isn't all that far from you. I'm not looking for quite that much rifle right now, so I'm not interested.

Like I said, I have ZERO connection to the rifle, do not know the owner, and cannot vouchsafe for anything regarding it, but there is one listed there, so I thought I'd let you know.

There is no .416 Rigby Ruger M77 from 1976 unless it is a full custom. Be careful of anything on Armlist.

I looked at the listing on Armslist. That rifle is a Ruger Safari Magnum made from 1992 - 2010. They were made in .375 HH, .416 Rigby and .458 Lott. The rifle in the photo is likely well worth $2200 IF it is a real for sale RSM and not a rip off. If you make an offer to buy, meet him in person to swap the money for the rifle. If this is the first RSM you have seen, you need to study them, before you take a chance on losing all your money. The current owner has already shown he knows nothing about it. They didn't make it in 1976.

Thanks for the clarification, I appreciate that! Certainly wasn't trying to mislead anyone (like I said, I know nothing about that rifle in that listing, I just came across it when browing through last night), and I appreciate having someone fact check it! :A Way To Go:

Sending PM to you.

I am interested in buying a 416 Rigby Rifle hopefully not too expensive
I have a very nice Dakota Arms with scope. A client of mine wishes to sell it. Its a good gun. Not chameap, maybe 7k with scope and extra stock (nice wood and green synthetic)
Might even have 4 boxes of shells?

Since you live in Oklahoma, you should check out champlinarms.com. George Caslin (sp?) in Enid, Ok. has a great selection of fine rifles and shotguns and JJ Perrodeaux is the gunsmith in the same location. They can probably help you find a 416 Rigby. Not sure what you mean by "not too expensive."
If you want a John Rigby & Co. rifle, their new Big Game 416 Rigby will be at least $12,000 to $15,000 for a base model. I've seen CZ rifles in that caliber for a few thousand.
Good luck.

Champlin is in Enid? I may have to make a day trip sometime.... I'm not looking to buy right this moment, but I'd love to look around there.

I just bought another CZ 550 416 SAFARI MAGNUM thursday on gun broker. Yes I paid $2510 +$30 for shipping ups. That is what it is going for right now. I do have few Ruger rsm 416 rigbys, and CZ 416 rigbys that I can let go for reasonable offer. No low balling. This one below is a (NIB) cz 550 SAFARI MAGNUM IN 416 rigby fancy grade. So the price I paid is little higher as I did not have a fancy grade. They are hard to find any more.

I would not buy a 416 Rigby in a Ruger.

I have both a Ruger RSM and a CZ 550 in 416, the one thing I find with the Ruger is if you don’t use care in loading the magazine you can jam it up, which may not be a good thing. I’ve taken the CZ to Africa but won’t take the Ruger though I do use for Moose.

About a month ago I was visiting my kids in Edmond and my son-in-law and grandson made a day trip to Enid and went through the gun room with George. Call ahead of time to make sure he'll be there. They are located at the airport on the east side of town.

Thank you for the advise

From the post above;
There is currently a CZ-550 in 416 Rigby on GB: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/897753832

"This is a Family Gun that went to Africa one time to get Cape buffalo and been setting in the safe since. It has a Zeiss Conquest 1,8-5,5x38 MC.
I will pay for Shipping to you 2day"

There are 10 days remaining in the auction but this might end up a great buy!

PS: I have no financial or other interest in this auction. I already have a .416 Remington and a .416 Taylor...
