Gents,

For sale is a post-64 Model 70 that started life as a 243 Winchester and was rebored by JES to a .358 Winchester. I haven't fired it in its current form, but the rifling quality looks identical to previous jobs from JES (35 Whelen and 9.3x62; both shot very well with factory ammo.) Jesse did a decent enough job re-stamping (see photo). This was intended as a project rifle (was going to refinish the stock, add ebony, new red Pachmayr, etc.) but then I came into a Sako Finnbear in 9.3x62 and don't need both. The stock is solid but has hunting marks. No cracks or splits. The bluing is in mostly good shape but there is a rub spot on the top of the barrel where I'm guessing it leaned in a safe. The recoil pad is not perfectly fitted. The bolt still retains most of its jeweling. Action cycles smoothly and feeds perfectly. Trigger is very good. The front sight rail is permanently attached (by previous owner). Rear sight complete. Grip cap has Winchester logo. The rifle is not bedded. The rifle comes with the set of 1" Talley aluminum rings currently attached.

This was a project for me and it'll likely be a project for someone else, so I've got it priced accordingly. I.e., I'm not asking what I would for a finished rifle, though it's perfectly functional as is. Will ship from an individual (me) via SMG to your FFL. Will ship with insurance for full purchase price. Lower 48 only and no CA. (Alaska is possible but would require buyer to pay actual shipping costs.) Payment by Zelle, check, or USPSMO. Cross-listed. Please claim here and send PM. Will go by timestamp across platforms.

$675 shipped.

Thanks y'all.

I seem to be just a tad late with your offerings. Same thing: if it falls through...

@clockwork_7mm_gator
May not win any beauty prizes but a good honest hunting rifle at a bargain price.
Someone is going to get the best thing to ever happen to a 243. A review to a real calibre the 358.
If'n I lived there I would be all over it.
The person that gets it will be able to say have rifle will hunt with minimal tracking after the shit.
Bob

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig

Do you still have the Ruger 9.3x62?
