Hey Guys!
I'm really trying to get a feel for what's out there and the online sites are no help. I'm looking for a pre 64 that I can have some simple work done on to make it "My Own". (One thing would be to send it to Mr. Renner) This would be a hunting rifle, so collectors value isn't very important to me. I'm much more concerned on having a rock solid PG rifle with some historical pedigree. Ideal caliber would be .270, but I'm very flexible on that. More importantly, I've set a budget for around $2000 for the rifle as I know upgrade$ will be on the way. If you have one for sale, please let me know. If you have some advice on a project like this, please share it with me!
Thanks as always!
Eric

Hedge, you have a DM

Hey RSL. R.J. Renner is a stock maker/gunsmith that will take your stock and reshape in the styling of European stalking rifles among other designs.

Thank you, Sir!

Thank you, Sir!
@Hedge774 you should give Shedhorn a phone call back and ask about a pre64 in .270. I see them in there all of the time, wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t have one in there right now and they are usually always under 2K.

Thank you, Sir!
You're welcome! I had them redo a Model 70 for me and it came back essentially looking and functioning like a brand new rifle. So this rifle is a little bit over your budget but you're not going to have any issues with it. Buy the best and you'll only cry once.

Mr. R.J. Renner was mentioned earlier in this thread. He is a gunsmith/stock-maker bases in Reno, NV. He specializes in Pre-64 model 70's, Ruger 77's and Mauser. His work is beautiful to those who prefer the "Classic" style of gunstocks. Check out his website: rjrenner@protonmail.com You will enjoy it! DesertDweller62

I've got a 1950 I believe standard 270win, has a pachmayr side mount so wouldn't be messing up a original. Dm me if interested.

i may have one for you, let me poke around in the safes

Hey guys! I scored a very nice 300 HH this morning. I post some pics when she gets in. Thanks for all the help!!!!
Good. Don't mess with that great cartridge/rifle! See if it shoots okay. Then if you've still got your heart set on 270 (why?), I'd recommend dolling this one up into an African gun and trade it for 270 or some other standard action sacrificial lamb. Or sell it. African 270 is almost an oxymoron. Don't waste a magnum length action on 270.

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
