Hello;
So the deed is done!
RCBS liberated $1,500 of my hard earned dollars, and Midsouth, Raven Rock, Graf & Sons, Midway, etc. are colluding to unload their powders, primers and bullets inventory on me :E Rofl:
I would like to buy a 2008 Barnes reloading manual number 4.
If any of you have one floating around and collecting dust please send me a PM :)
Thank you in advance

I dont have a spare.. but Im happy to scan and send any pages youre interested in out of mine..

Ive got close to a dozen reloading manuals on the shelf.. but the Barnes #4 and the Lyman 50th are where probably 95% of my loads come from..

Hi One Day,
You can find every load in their latest manual, plus updated load info here: https://barnesbullets.com/load-data/

This won't have the anecdotes and stories found in the manual, but the raw load data is available and it is taken directly from their manuals.

Nosler also has load data on their website if you end up using Nosler bullets. I looked in a lot of places for the last Barnes book, I love having reloading manuals as well. I even tried to buy a couple “ store copies” that were in use at different shops and they would not sell them even though they were pretty ratty.

Thank you mdwest and Hififile324, this is really appreciated.

I know how to get the data (it is indeed on Barnes' website), but I got a Nosler manual something like 20 years (?) ago, it was the Number 3, during an aborted interest in reloading (no time at the time...) and when the Partition was THE bullet to beat, and I loved reading it almost like a novel, like Fryeguy I speculate, hence my attempt right now to get a Barnes manual.

I am less interested in other manuals because I am pretty much on the Barnes bandwagon with TTSX in the fast PG calibers, and TSX & Banded Solids in the DG calibers.

We will see where this whole thing goes, but for now I do not intend to try a myriad bullets and loads, just make the ammo that no manufacturer offers (e.g. 9.3x62 286 gr solid) and not be affected by manufacturers' constant changes (e.g. Weatherby dropping the 165 gr TTSX .300 Wby load).

PS: RCBS -- helped by Hornady -- have now liberated $2k in equipment alone  since I added an ultrasonic cleaner and a COAL gauge with a dozen modified brass...

Anything you guys, experienced reloaders, think I am missing? (I already had a digital caliper).

I'll take a look and see what numbers I have - haven't opened a Barnes manual in a long long while - they might as well be in the hands of some one who would use them.

Although I have absolutely no idea how much it would cost to send them from Western Canada to Arizona ... probably more than they are worth

Abes Books has one, and they want $90.00. o_O

THANK YOU

In a perfect example of the law of supply & demand, I bought it for the $90 asked

FYI, Barnes told me that they have no intention of publishing another one...

Glad you bought it. Sometimes we have to bite the bullet, if we want/need something. It's a shame that Barnes is not going to publish another manual. I wonder why?

With the online reloading data sites along with Barnes I don't see many of the powder or bullet manufactures publishing a paper manual.

This younger generation just want to pull up data on their phones. I can see it here on African Hunting, more and more members are looking at Quick Load and other sites instead of opening up a book.

I guess that makes sense. However, IMHO, they should publish some manuals for us old farts who still like the old school way of reading and looking at a manual. :ROFLMAO:

OK, I got to ask. What is so great about Barnes #4 manual? Yes, I own one but I don't believe I consult it anymore that the other 10 or so that I have.

Also, $27 on Amazon FYI.

I agree, my loading notes were on the back pages or even next to the load data itself in the paper manuals. That was until I started to write it down in a load book that I made up.

But with the influx of a number of new cartridges they would need to print a new manual every few years. On line they just add the new ones onto their web site. Along if there are any errs in the loads they can just change them and move on. I found a err in the Barnes #4 manual in the 7mm Rem Mag data. The loads for the Barnes 140 grain XLC were all wrong, I notified Barnes about it and all they did was to send me the correct data without doing anything about what was in the paper copy. If that was online they could of just corrected it and moved on.

It's listed but shows Unavailable for all the sellers.

Hmm, Well I just ordered it. Came to $32.90 with shipping. One of you guys can have it if it makes it to me.
I had seen it too but bumped onto the "unavailable". Really curious to see if you receive it, keep us posted please :)

Order of priority:
A ball micrometer for case wall thickness
A blade micrometer for case head expansion
I have found that Haas Automation has good prices and selection.

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
Impala cull hunt for camp meat!
