WTB: Dakota .375 H&H Rifle

I am new to this forum and was referred here while searching for a Dakota .375 H&H rifle. I recently returned from my first safari and am preparing for another trip, and this rifle has been recommended to me by several people whose opinions I trust.

I am specifically looking for a Dakota chambered in .375 H&H in good condition. Open to discussing different configurations or models.

If you have one you may be willing to sell, or know of one available, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you,
BJ

Check out the Sportsman’s Legacy site in Kalispell, MT. He usually has a number of Dakotas.

Thanks for the reply, I have seen those but don't love the stock's on either.

Your assessment is correct. They are bare-bones models. Lackluster wood. No quarterib. No wrap around checkering. No case colors. No standing/folding leaf sight arrangement. No flip up front night sight. No checkered bolt. No jeweled extractors.

Do you need all of those things? No, but for similar money you'll probably find a better rifle that has some of those enhancements. To get all of those in one rifle, you'll need to budget five figures for certain.

Wonderful rifles and the perfect caliber. Our household has killed a lot of game with 375HH dakotas.

Rock Island auctions may be worth taking a look at.
Periodically, they’ll have quite a few old custom hunting rifles in 375 H&H.

Right hand or Left?

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your new addiction (Africa). This is a great place with a lot of super people to do business with in so many different disciplines of expertise.

Where was your first safari at? Post pics and a hunt report. Good luck with your search.

This is good advice to check out Sportsman’s Legacy. He deals in some very nice rifles. In fact he has my George Hoenig 375 H&H for sale. It was built on a Winchester model 70 pre 64 action. He will have other 375’s for you to look at.

Sent you a private message as I have a "few" and are about ready to thin the herd out. Empire/incredible woodbeautiful. Couple Ruger RSM'S, Custom Brown built on pre64 Win...etc etc.
Also have a few dual caliber take downs in that caliber plus other big carts.

Let me know

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
