W.J. Jeffery & Co. Limited Production Classic Bolt Action .500 Jeffery &.404 Jeffery Rifles

Right now a bespoke rifle is out of my price range. But I can sure admire the rifles W.J.JEFFERY & Co built. Thank you for sharing what your company offers. Hope to come visit your shop. A 404 is high on my wish list.
It's a great caliber..423 with a smooth cartridge and easy action. I have one, just not one made by these beautiful people at W.J. Jeffery & Co. One can dream I suppose.

You had access to half a dozen eggs?????? LUXURY!!! Me and my 29 siblings lived in a shoebox in the middle of the freeway and knew nothing but starvation and a drunken father who would come home to the shoebox at night and cut us in half with a rusty breadknife, and that was after we were upgraded from living in a rolled up newspaper stuffed into a watertank down at the city dump. We could only DREAM of half a dozen eggs. You live and eat like a king.
Wait - you had a FATHER?

I know you guys are a bespoke shop but have you ever considered a rifle to compete more in the realm of a Rigby Big Game, Mauser 98, Parkwest Arms SD-76 etc?

There seems to be a large demand in that space.

W.J. Jeffery & Co. are pleased to reintroduce a limited production of their classic bolt action .500 Jeffery and .404 Jeffery rifles. Modelled after Jeffery’s original Magnum Mauser rifles of the 1930’s, these classic Big Game rifles are once again made in Birmingham and remain the pre-eminent choice for the pursuit of dangerous game.

Beautiful guns. One day maybe, it would be worth the cost. 2 days ago I Just looked at some great guns in “Safari Outdoor” trading post South Africa. Great gun shop has a coffee shop inside

I must admit that a .500 Jeffery, built by W. J. Jeffery, at a pricepoint similar to the .416 Rigby Big Game from Rigby, would be a big success. Especially as Rigby currently does not do any +.45CAL rifles in their Big Game line, to my knowledge.

Thanks for your comments. This something we are considering and looking at.

I was hoping the 500 "that's been here" .. may be forgiving on asking price.

It's been touched & licked ;) by so many hands, sorry. "You don't' know where those hands have been!

Looking forward to the result! I hope you can bring some WJ Jeffery features which will be unique to the brand.

An “affordable” bespoke 0.500 rifle would sell like hot cakes.

Is WJ Jeffery planning to make any left-handed rifles in .404 and .500 Jeffery ?

I’d love to see Jeffery have offerings similar to Rigby’s BGR and stalker series. They are splendid rifles in fit and finish.

As an aside, Rigby has had the 450 Rigby in both the PH model and standard Big Game Rifle for a while, and just noticed this year that the .458 Lott is now in the standard offering list. So wish they or Jeffery would offer a 500 in something achievable. A London’s Best and these gorgeous Jeffery offerings, as much as I LOVE amazing bolt guns, are just hard to consider. I’ll dream, and drool, but if dropping $65k-$100k, it will not be on a single bolt action. Maybe a couple fine doubles, or two Heyms and a trip to Tanzania.

I truly appreciate that these guns exist and that there are who can buy them, I mean if you can afford one, you can really afford several, and still take a few trips to Tanzania a year. But a brand can market to the much larger mass of folks who want to spend large sums of money on fine firearms, who can justify $18k-$30k a year on a good quality rifle that seems largely untouched.

I considered going broke, never retire. "W.J. Jeffery" reintroduction.

Beautiful rifles, if I won the lottery it would be high on my list, but until then I'll stick with my sub $3000 CZ 550 in 500 Jeffery.

" Never a borrower or lender be".... As my Grandfather used to say, but available to purchase! Thanks for looking.
he stole it from the Baird - " Neither a borrower nor a lender be; For loan oft loses both itself and friend, And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry"

Several months ago I sold a genuine .404J. It went to a fine dealer in RSA the price was very reasonable. After the rifle was sold, but before the export permit was issued. Then this happened.

All firearm permits were frozen until new permit prices could be determined. Result the new export permit will result in me getting a few hundred dollars for a pristine Mauser (98) Jefferies .404, that was the handiest rifle I have ever hunted DG.

I am surprised no member has heard about our firearm license fiasco. Its going to be very expensive for a outfitter to own xtra firearms , such as loaners/rentals. Ah, then there anti-poaching .303 enfields. I heard that one conservancy’s license cost will be $28,000.00

do tell I have like 20 375-458 going there - mostly CZ /Brno
