Had a great hunt on the Gage Ranch in the Glass mountains of west Texas. Outfitter was Wildlife Systems and my guide was Jackie Murphy. A truly exciting and challenging experience. Saw tons of elk, deer, turkey, pronghorn and javelins. We stalked this guy for 2 miles and could only get within 800 yards. Fortunately they browsed our way until they were within 300 yards and I dropped him there.

Javelinas not javelins, damn autocorrect

Congrats!

WOW one fine auodad! Congratulations! Your Camo looks perfect for the terrain!
What town is the Gage Ranch near?

That is a fabulous free range area and hunt that doesn't get enough attention. Congrats on a great ram.

Thanks. The nearest town is Marathon, home of the historic Gage Hotel.

Awesome free range Aoudad! Them West Texas hunts will give ya a real run for your money. Great shooting and closing the deal on a great ram.

Very nice sir!

Congrats on the ram and thanks for sharing!

I'm thinking about a West Texas Aoudad hunt later this year. Out of curiosity what size was / is yours?

He was right at 30 inches.

Congrats , a free range 30" ram is awesome!!! Surprised that you saw elk, doesn't look like typical elk habitat.

My guide told me from the start that he was very picky, and that he wouldn't put me on one under 30. On the other side of the mountain it's a bit more like elk country, more trees.

Beautiful country.............I like hunting that kind of terrain...........what rifle, cart, bullet did you use?..........fine ram!.............FWB

Very nice. I've heard several good reports on Wildlife Systems, seems like a very good outfitter.

Well, sir, I am mighty impressed with the quality of the shell cordovan belt. I have several pairs of shoes that are shell cordovan, but had balked at paying over half that price for just a belt. Wouldn't be surprised if this belt doesn't last the rest of my life--for its color application. It sure is a universe removed from the cheaply constructed yet expensive stuff being put out there. Worth the price I paid.
getting ready for a 5 day sable hunt!
