So, @BWH and I got together with a couple of his buddies and put a crane hunt together here outside of Lubbock. We went with Tejas H20 Outfitters and this morning our group and another limited out on cranes. It was the first time I've ever hunted cranes and I have to say it was a blast. We'll be shooting geese tomorrow too.

Never heard of hunting them at all. You got a bunch of them Gizmo! Congrats

Looks like you guys had a blast! Congratulations!

nice ...never heard of them ....so does the above mean even you found it easy to hit them?......:W Shotgun::E Big Grin:
If they decoy well they aren't hard to knock down, killing them on the other hand is an entirely different story. You damn near need an anti aircraft cannon to kill them outright.

Are they truly the ribeye of the sky? Means they are really good eating. Glad you got some, always wanted to try for some.

Awesome hunt, always have wanted to hunt them.

As far as how they taste I have know idea???? I'll let you know after I eat one.

We hunt Sandhills in Idaho and I always thought they were good eating but not really super eating.

So I did a crane hunt 2 years ago, and they are fantastic to eat! Congratulations on the hunt and definitely a hunt everyone should do once. The only problem is the limit is 3 per person, so you are done pretty quickly.

Very cool!

Great stuff..

Another great day of wing shooting...Congrats! It looks like it was a little colder today than it was yesterday.

Good work.
We are sending plenty more down right now.
The temps just dropped like a rock so they will be cruising in to see you shortly.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
