We returned a week ago from another great hunt with J&J Outfitters. I have know Jed and Jenni for many years and have hunted with them and their guides several times.

This particular hunt was in central Utah. Guide was Bret. Great guy and truly fun to hunt with.

We spent a few days working the glassing points and saw several bulls.

The third day we put a stalk on a nice 6x6. When crunch time came, I just couldn't pull the trigger. He was a nice bull but in a year or two he would be magnificent.

The following day we spotted this guy from a ridge line. He was 1600 yards away and had a good sized group of cows with him.

We watched him for an hour or so. He bedded down just below the ridge in a perfect spot. Brush behind him, and a commanding view of the country in front. It was awesome watching him in his bed and seeing him take the occasional nap where his head went down as he snoozed away.

After watching him for some time, we were not sure we could make a move on him due to his location and the numerous cows.

What the heck, it was worth a try.

We packed up and used the 4 wheeler to get to the bottom of the drainage. We then found a ravine that went up the mountain that would provide cover, and thankfully, the wind was in the right direction.

We popped out at a bit over 300 yards from him and I hustled to get set up for the shot off the tripod.

Thankfully it was one and done. He never left the bed.

Very blessed with a great hunt, awesome stalk, and a full freezer! :)

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.
