I drew for late season Arizona antler-less elk up in 7W this year. Purely a meat hunt, but offered the opportunity to try out my CZ 550 in .375 H&H with AHR #3 upgrade. Hauled that rifle for nearly 20 miles over 3 days before I got my cow yesterday at 160 yards. She dropped in her tracks without taking a single step. First animal I have taken with anything larger than a .30-06. Those 300 grain Accubonds are devastating. Saturday evening I had a nice lone bull crash by me about 25 yards without a clue that I was there - so cool to just watch him up that close. Saw tons of mule deer, a very large herd of antelope and some lion tracks as well. Great weekend.

Cow elk! No impressive rack to show. I didn't even take a photo before I got to work on her. It was getting dark and cold, and I had a pretty good hike out after dressing her.

Yeah, I got a red deer hind and the other hunters were encouraging me to get a picture. I said, I shot this for meat. No way am I going to get a photo so the women folk can ooh and aah and say, Oh how cute, why did you have to shoot her? My boys and I will revel in succulent steaks and tasty jerky and the hunt will have been a great success! (For the record, Ruger No. 1 in 7mm RM with Hornady Precision Hunter ammo. One shot at 90 yards right where I was looking through a Vortex Razor HD LR set at 5 power.)

Congratulations.

Delicious meat for the winter! Congratulations flat8!

I'm in for a Couple Steaks

Sounds like the rifle did the job. Hope you will share some pictures!

Any time you get to hunt elk is a blessing, AZ elk hunting is one of my favorites though! Congratulations

Congrats!!

These are some pics of the unit. Blaze orange hat is yours truly set up in a place I had scouted out in April, June and October. And that’s right where the cow came down. For those that haven’t been to the AZ high country, we’ve got some beautiful spots here.

WOW, no doubt about that being huntin (sp intended) country. Some of those photos belong on post cards. For tasty meat you can't beat a doe or cow over a rut crazed buck or bull. For what it is worth I didn't take pictures of my doe either.

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.

Hello:
I’ll take the .375 Whitworth for $1,150 if the deal falls through.
Thanks .
