yes, I decided to finally visit Europe to hunt! my choice...England, UK!

I hunted with Kevin Downer. I met him at SCI the year before. we had talked for a bit then I continued my search for the hunt I really wanted! all in all, I ended up coming back to kevin toward the end of the show and booking a trip with him! he was a great host! and a great guide! we had a good time and me being a young guy, he was even able to keep up with me! hahaha!
there isn't a lodge that we stayed in so we got rooms at a nice hotel in Bedford called the Woburn hotel! kevin really treated me well. I ended up taking two water deer and a muntjak and we hunted on the property of the Duke of Bedford!

    the Woburn hotel.

a real treat for me was shooting a suppressed rifle! being a California resident, I don't really get that opportunity.

we hunted munjak from sun up to sun down! taking this old guy in the late afternoon! we had tried calling muntjak but only females responded! I tell you though, its really awesome seeing a deer species come charging into a call when youre only used to predators comning in to a call.

these kennels were used before the war to house fox hounds! from what im told, after the war they were unable to be kept. still very interesting to me!

I will visit the UK again! hope you enjoyed!

Quite the set of fangs. They are such a throw back to the start of the species.
    Congratulations.

    Thanks for sharing.

So maybe taking my wife to England won't be so bad after all... :)

Sounds like you had a great hunt. I don't know much about either species but the muntjak looks great.

    Thanks for sharing.

    All the best.

yes indeed! they are very neat! thanks!

you have to do it! and for these two species, its really a good deal. a fun new experience!

not at all! I took a little time to walk around the town. there was an awesome old church. but you could totally spend a day in England sightseeing!

thanks! apparently, woburn was the heart of the introduction of these species. some introduced on purpose while others escaped from a local zoo. also! the story of the pierre davids deer is an amazing piece of history for that species.

I recognise that rifle! Kevin is great guy and has taught me a lot about deer management over the years, he also has access to huge Roe and Fallow, watching him call in Roe in the rut is incredible

England year round and Namibia x5.
Now you need to arrange a trip that coincides with the early summer mornings and late summer evenings of the Roe buck season.
Even better if you can make it during the rut. The thrill of a mature buck running in from three fields away in response to your call is an exciting moment.
That's before you see movement from the corner of your eye and realise another one has crept in behind you and is checking you out from twenty yards......

yes he was telling me all about his roe and fallow! its definitely in my plans for a future hunt! I will be back with him! its nice to see he has a good reputation!

sounds like a great time! when he called in those females, it was a great time! one came to within about fifteen feet! didn't know we were there! on another spot, as we were walking in, we pushed a female out and ended up calling her right back in. haha.

someone say wolf hunt??? that's one animal that has put the slip on me multiple times already! Ontario Canada, Idaho and Montana. each I spent a week in trying to call wolves but each time only producing coyotes. one day!
