Under poaching pressure, elephants are evolving to lose their tusks

Schlock Science.

Evolution may take slightly longer than the poaching pressure has been around for.
More likely down to genetic selection.

Evolution is a misleading term. What's happening is that in areas with poor protection, tuskers are being shot out for ivory so elephants with short tusks or none are the ones who more frequently breed, thus creating what we see. This is middle school science for God sakes
