Trump slams elephant hunting..(!)

Media is scrutinizing the elephant situation. I get the chess part. Next move will be the Saves Act or something like that.
Tom or better yet the REAL SOLUTION repeal the Endangered Species Act. It has had so many unintended consequences! I could go on and on. Something like 2000 endangered listings and 20 species EVER removed from the list. A political football not something in the interest of animals at all.
I remember when I was a kid and endangered meant something. The California Condor was in the news and was down to something like single digit breeding pairs so they captured some of them to artificially rear them to save them. Folks that is endangered. There are half a million elephants they are not even close to being endangered! Some whales have hundreds of thousands and are called endangered. We must speak to our politicians and tell them this nonsense must stop!

Thank you for being able to put this in proper perspective, Marius. Too bad there are some clamheads here (PONDORO) that just want to bash the best president we have had since Ronaldus Magnus.

Now that you mention Ronaldus Magnus- was he not the president who gave amnesty to 2 million illegals?? In some ways did this not lay the ground work/set the precedent for all of this DACA amnesty to illegal aliens crap ??

He is better than the alternative. He has done (or is in the process of) a lot of what he said he would. Disappointing, but with Hillary we would not even be having the conversation. Elephants lose. It sucks. But things could be way worse.

The boat will have to be from Hyder to Anchorage. Don’t worry about border crossing. No ID needed. The Anchorage plane will go to Seattle. From there, Continental U.S. @ Brickburn handles Canada to Hyder Alaska. I will handle Alaska once I get $2000. What’s next? Polar bears? Leopards? Black faced impalas? Seals?:D:DNow, lets donate to the Trump Foundation!
Just use the ferry. Cheaper than a plane. Same ship goes to Ketchikan, Whittier, Bellingham.

That is true, he got snookered by the demtards, they broke their promise to him. It was supposed to be a trade off. Don't know that one can make some kind of connection to what happened in the 80's to now but I suppose anything is possible in the minds of some, especially haters of Reagan and Trump.....:(

I'm wondering about all this stock market talk. Usually a sign the bull is getting long in the tooth.

As a (possibly former) Democrat, I voted for Trump because I was nauseated by the direction that the Democratic party is headed. The fact that people like Corey Booker and Bernie Sanders are actually considered presidential contenders is ridiculous. The Democratic party has lost all sight of who their base used to be. That is why Trump won the rust belt. In addition, Trump is a pro-gun President. He passed tax reform and now he is working on immigration. I want my wall!!! Finally, he has shown that America will not abide by the status quo. I would prefer more socially liberal positions from him on issues like marijuana, but I am willing to take the good with the bad. I do not think he is a good person. I do not even think he is a good politician. But I do think that he is the right man for the Presidency right now to make America great again. I have had the existential anxiety that America was a crumbling empire like Rome. With the way the country was heading, corrupt politicians, foreign influences, apathetic citizens, etc. America was on the road to collapse. It will take a president like Trump to save us from this path. He may not be a good president and he may not do everything right. It is merely the fact that he is tearing apart the political establishment that is what makes him so effective.

Its called a precedent...If a president 30 years ago gave amnesty to 2 million illegals its probably going to be a lot easier to do it again. Precedents kind of tend to be important in politics and law... I would also add that the demographics of the illegals back then and in the present are probably pretty similar- in that most of them of economic migrants from Mexico and from other parts of Latin America. Bush senior also had some sort of amnesty program if I am not mistaken- albeit to a much smaller degree. What happened in the 80s didn't happen in a vacuum its really not that hard to connect the dots to the present. So I am a bit confused as to why you think it is completely unrelated to the DACA b.s. today ?

I don't hate Reagan nor do I hate Trump. Neither has done anything to harm me or my family. However, I also don't think that either of them is some kind of messiah and the greatest thing since sliced bread. Granted, for what my opinion is worth, would say that Reagan was a good president- while he did have, in my opinion, some really bad policies he did have good ones.

As far as Trump goes well I think that him wanting to scrap any talk of DACA an giving amnesty to people who broke the law to get into the US in the first place is amazing. However, his bombastic rhetoric and comments, may have actually had the opposite effect...

But apart from that I fail to see what is so great about him? People reference the stock market- its had pretty strong growth since 2012 according to the chart below:

https://seekingalpha.com/article/40...-tops-25-trillion-1_9-trillion-since-election

Unemployment has also seen a pretty steady decline in recent years and when Trump took office it was I think under 5%. So how much of this credit goes to him- is difficult to say.

US military spending is by far the highest in the world and its several times more than second placed China. Its been like that long before Trump took office... So what has Trump or his administration done that has vastly improved military spending??

Don't get me wrong I definitely agree with virtually everyone on this thread that Trump was a better choice than Hillary. But where I do differ is that I really don't see what is so amazing about the guy or why he is such a fantastic president? What has he actually achieved that has actually "made America great again" ??

I also have a problem with how he seems to neglect hunters and gun owners after the election. He was far more pro gun and I think he made a few pro-hunting statements during the election, which he has since forgotten. Yet given that a large portion of Americans own guns, most probably tend to vote Republican more than Democrat, and some of that portion hunts- I think its safe to say these 2 demographics played a large role in his victory especially in some key battleground states where he won with slight margins, yet carried all the electoral college votes from those states.

@gizmo I think said that there are so many river dolphins in the Amazon that the fish stocks. In Iceland, whale and dolphins are hurting puffin stocks

I was living in San Diego when they started the condor breeding program at the Wild Animal Park. I was also a member of the Zoo. One of the biggest threats to the captive condors was the Sierra Club. If the condors went extinct, they thought they would get a huge amount of traction for their political programs. So there were attempts to kill the condors, the WAP people told us. There is no honesty or compassion in the animal rights movements. The emphasis on cute is a ploy for power and money. Trump and the rest of the moguls have no clue. Nuff said?

Glad to see you want that wall! How much Texas border land have you purchased to donate to the effort? I am sure you are not one of those socialists who wants the government to give them everything.

Sorry, I forgot. Isn't the plan for us to pay to build it and then Mexico will pay us back?

I don't remember that I do remember the ex president of Mexico telling 45 to go f--k himself

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah :(:(:(:(:(:(:( Too bad this turned into a Trump bashing thread. Got nothing to do with the subject at hand. What Saul said above is spot on. Love him or hate him, he is what America needs at THIS TIME! Hopefully the left will continue to lose its mind over everything he says and does and they and all the other never Trumpers can wind up in the looney bin!

Isn’t politics fun!

If I'm reading between the lines correctly... Trump's intention is to build the wall, or rather the revised wall. At US taxpayers expense. And renegotiate trade deals such as NAFTA, and perhaps imposing tarriffs (very bad idea) with the idea of getting a better deal for the U.S.

Then with some creative accounting he will be able to claim he made Mexico pay. This is what I have been hearing him say all along.

Those who ever thought that Mexico would actually write a check to build a wall have just not thought it through.

I'm still not convinced the wall is going to protect elephants from poachers, but that's just me... :p

But it WAS a great campaign line though, I mean, right?:D:eek::rolleyes:o_O;):p:D:eek: But seriously folks. All candidates make promises that wont be or cannot be fulfilled. Its called politics. All campaign promises should be taken with a large dose of salt.(y) Trump has already exceeded my expectations, I am not sorry for my vote. Apparently some here are, oh well. Almost forgot, MAGA!!!!!!!!!!!!:p:rolleyes:
