Trophy - The Film

The one thing, in my opinion, that gets overlooked in the hunters vs. anti-hunters conversation is that anti-hunters really don't care one whit about the animals they pretend to want to protect. In fact, the vast majority of anti-hunters are simply mentally deranged masochists whose only pleasure in life comes from making other humans miserable.

These sociopaths are aware that an open and free society would not allow them to exercise their hatred of fellow humans, so they hide behind outwardly noble causes like "protecting animals" and "defending the climate". This is why none of our side's solutions is ever acceptable, even if they actually solve the stated problem. These vile and evil antis just want to make other humans miserable. That's their real goal.

I know this may seem outrageous to some but the antis fail the test, in this case, the rhino test. When the rhino problem is shown to have a solution, the antis reject that solution because it doesn't cause misery to other humans. No other proof is needed - antis don't care about rhinos. In fact, with rhinos gone, hunters are less happy and antis will celebrate and use that to take away whatever is next...

The antis won't stop until the entirety of the human population no longer laughs around an evening campfire because that is their ultimate goal.

All very true! During the filming of Trophy the Born Free guy said he would prefer rhinos to be extinct than be on John Hume’s farm! Sadly the camera was not rolling

One of the PETA ladies said the same thing about scimitars on a 60 Minutes interview about 10 years ago. Said she'd rather they be extinct than being raised and hunted in Texas and didn't care that Texas was also sending animals back to their native range for re-population.

Its the same stuff ara archlords like Packham in UK basiically is about, control over the lands ,animals and people dont mean so much to them as money do .

He is in a c8urtcase now, he couldnt comprehend that some of his alleddgelly received threating letters ,pictures of them and others had been sent to hand writing experts to see whether or not handwriting was a match or not.

All this is tied in to larger societal issues. Almost solely post-modernism/neo-Marxism. It is amazing how it can infiltrate every facet of existence. It’s all about seeking power under the guise of compassion

Yes I was highly involved with that interview. I was on the board of the Exotic Wildlife Association at the time of the 60 Minutes program on the Three Amigos (SCIMITAR horned oryx, Addax, & Dama Gazelle). Pricilla Feral of PETA clearly stated she would rather they be extinct than be on private game ranches. Our enemy is insane!

Because those that run/rule the animal rights movement primary motivation isn’t animal rights. It’s a hodgepodge of post-modernism, Marxism, and anti-human self loathing.

1.) They want to end hunting to create State dependence.
2.) They want to disrupt the food supply through veganism, resulting in mass death.
3.) They want to redistribute wealth from the private sector to the public to achieve their goals.
4.) They want to weaponize affluence since it relates to hunting in many cultures, thereby pushing socialism followed by Marxism.

If you tug at the string, you’ll find that the animal rights movement is undergirded by beliefs far more profound that include collectivism, redistribution of wealth, hedonism, atheism, population control, Marxism, and the devaluing of human life. Their end goal is that humanity ceases since they self-loathe themselves so greatly.

I saw the movie, it's now on HBO MAX in Europe. I was a little disappointed. Not from the movie, that was very good, but from the content.
For me, hunting has always been associated with traditions, regulation and choosing the right animal. Respect for animals. A trophy that shows the quality of breeding and the right choice, even in the long term.
It is clear to me that there is commercial hunting in Africa. But in the scene where a guy with a bottle in his hand shoots a crocodile like in a computer game, and then the whole group watches him die tied with rope on the shore and they discuss whether the taxidermist will fix it....so my family asked me if this is what I want to go to Africa. Images from the lion canned hunt as well. I preferred to turn off the movie and watch it later alone.
I was left a little disappointed what hunting in Africa is really about, I mean at the price that is normally offered in South Africa. I am only planning my first trip, but...
As I said, the movie is otherwise very good! (y)

As in all human endeavors, we can always find the bad examples of human activity. The killing of the crocodile highlights that once again humans can and do fall short. However, this example of human failings is not the norm of hunting in Africa. It is not even close. It has been my experience in each of my safaris, 5 since 2014, that each of your requirements for a proper hunt have been met. I can personally recommend Jacques Strauss at Kowas Safari Adventures and Nathan Askew at Bullet Safaris. I am sure that the members of this forum can recommend many other hunting operations that can fulfill your requirements of ethical hunting. You are in the proper place to plan such an adventure. Have fun with the planning, be flexible with the challenges, laugh a great deal, and take pictures to share your memories.

Thank you for your thoughts. Trophy is not a hunting film. So you were watching it from the wrong perspective. If it was just a hunting film no one outside of our circles would have been interested in it. It would never have been bought by CNN and would never have won an Emmy. It tells all sides and yes, that is hard to watch at times.

I probably wrote it wrong (foreign language) - I was expecting a documentary film showing reality from several sides, and it was.
I just didn't expect that part of the reality is the guy with the crocodile (and his approach to hunting and disrespect for animals). Probably a big part, when he made it to the documentary film.

That scene was my biggest gripe. The film makers just said it’s real, and it happens. That is sadly true. Worst hunter ever!

We have come full circle here sadly. John Hume is broke and had to sell the rhinos and all that he has invested. His battle and thoughts were brilliantly portrayed in Trophy The Film.

Excellent film, well put together. The only part I didn’t like was the redneck hunting the croc, but I understand the need for it. Anyways, it was a great film.
