This question is for Martin or any member that has the answer. Excuse my ignorance but why is a trophy lion hunt 3.5 times more expensive than a trophy bull elephant hunt? Is it just much harder and time consuming to hunt a lion?

The trophy fee for Lion in some of those units can be $20,000 usd.

Thanks for the above answers, and they are 100% correct, Hwange and its surrounds including matetsi has approx 75000 elephant, there are too many and hence prices are reduced. Lion on the other hand are abundant but quotas are highly restricted which sets the price.

No matter what, with day fees and ranger included the above prices for Zim are excellent. Unless I’m missing something 8k for bull elephant is a great deal.

Martin, what size range of bulls do you expect to take? Can the hunt be extended to 10-14 days to be more selective? I suspect this late in the year things will be dry and game concentrated to water. When do the rains generally start?

Not only is the lion more expensive because there wild . It's the best hunt in the world imo , I shot the biggest lion in Zimbabwe last year with the amazing Len Taylor . Not to.mention you could easily dump another 20k in Lion Baits. Easily haha wild lion is a huge effort sir. But worth every penny

Excellent deal!

The price for a bull elephant says $8000.Can that be booked on its own?I couldn`t afford the trophy bull, but I could manage $8000 for a stand alone hunt for a bull.

Matetsi averages around 40 pounds a side although over the years bulls in excess of 70 have been taken, hunt can be extended for $ 650/ day. Its dry but unit 5 has a lot of water and springs as well as solar boreholes. Rains usually start late Nov but who knows these days. Regardles, the area has constant movement as well as resident elephant, often as soon as rains start the elephant that have congregated in the park move in search of fresh water and food so opportunities are endless.

The $8k trophy fee for the elephant bull is on top of one of the packages above, another option is a 10 day trophy lee @ 650/ day hunt and the trophy fee of $ 8k
