Winter has arrived early in the Kalahari.
The mornings bite a little harder now. Frost clings to the grass before sunrise, and the stars burn brighter in the vast African sky as we make our way home after another successful hunt.
The wind has gone quiet.
In that silence, you hear everything—boots brushing through dry grass, the crack of thorn underfoot, your own breathing as you move carefully through the bush on the trail of an elusive kudu bull.
This is Kalahari winter.
Dry days. Cold nights. Endless red dunes and golden grass stretching beyond the horizon. The air is crisp, the game is moving, and every track in the sand tells a story.
And when the day is done?
Log fires burning high.
Red wine in hand around the boma fire.
Fresh biltong hanging.
Droëwors being passed around.
Stories of gemsbok, kudu, and long stalks through the thornveld.
The kind of days that remind you why Africa gets under your skin and stays there.
What’s not to love about winter in Africa?
