Beautiful pictures. I bought a pair of Leica Trinovid 8x42 binos early this year, and they served my well on my safari in June. I look forward to hunting with them in the states this fall.

Excited to go on a driven hunt this weekend. What are your plans?

Excellent optics are essential if you are going on a hunt. But there's something more important for every hunter: the dog by your side!

It's driven hunt season. For this kind of hunting lightweight riflescopes with a wide field of view are necessary for what are usually intuitive shots. We recommend our Leica Magnus models and the Leica Tempus ASPH., a red dot sight with asphere with an extremely crisp and brilliant image of the illuminated dot. What's also really important: shooting practise!

"Approximately two years ago, I lost my Leica 8x32's when they slipped off the seat of my Polaris on a 1,000 acre farm in Iowa. After much distress and agony, I found them today while shed hunting. I was seriously considering ordering a new pair just before finding them; glad I didn't. After being totally exposed to the elements for two springs, summers, falls, and winters, and then being run over when the farmer mowed the CRP... They work perfectly!" - Leica Hunting Enthusiast JJ Samis

“From time to time, one sees a road in the wilderness that is truly the road to nowhere. This photo from northern Mozambique is one of those, it’s one of the wildest places I have ever spent time. The granite inselbergs make for some unique skylines!”

Mountain hunters find laser binoculars in the wilds of Norway.

Leica Geovid survives undamaged after 4 years buried under snow and ice.

The Norwegian Leica user Stein H. Haugen was incredibly delighted. Four years ago, he lost his LEICA Geovid 10x42 BRF binoculars while hunting in western Norway – and now they have been recovered by mountain hunters in the wilderness close to the Jostedalsbreen Glacier. The mechanical functions were all still perfect, and the optical system still delivered a brilliant view. His pair of binoculars survived six months of snow each year and temperatures between minus ten and plus thirty degrees Celsius completely intact. With a new battery, the Leica opto-electronics immediately came to life again and, believe it or not, delivered distance readings as precise as on the first day of use. For Stein H. Haugen, this is clear proof of the quality and endurance of LEICA high-tech products.

"I can't count the hours I have spent glassing in the wilds looking for something special. Recently, I found my greatest trophy…..my son. While scouting or hunting with Jackson, I often find myself not focused on the game we are pursuing but simply observing him. The way his ears perk up when a stick cracks, the way his face lights up when he sees a gobbler in full strut, or how his small hands touch a tree rubbed by a bull………..it's there. His classmates may not see it, his mom may not see it, but every time we step into the woods I see it. He is me…he is a hunter. So I say to my fellow hunting parents, keep glassing….just keep your eyes on the real target." - Bobby Warner

"Since I was a boy learning about them in the hallowed yellow trim pages of National Geographic, cultures that have developed with a need to hunt for survival have captivated my imagination. Today, as an avid and reasonably well-traveled hunter, I have been lucky enough to hunt with some of these ancient cultures and experience their skills first hand. Earlier this year, I decided to fulfill an ambition to hunt with the native Inuits inside the Arctic Circle." - Leica Hunting Pro Simon K Barr

"My polar safari started in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland. Kangerlussuaq meaning “Big Fjord” is a settlement of 530 people in western Greenland - and by their standards is a large town. Situated on the outer edge of the Greenland ice cap, which covers 80% of the country’s territory and is the second largest body of ice in the world after Antarctica."

"After landing, I met my guide Karsten Lings, the first outfitter and guide from this area of Greenland. Leaving the rudimentary airport, we drove past charming painted timber houses with sealskins stretched across frames air-drying in the moisture-free subzero breeze. As we travelled the gravel road a few miles from town, I listened to Karsten’s story of a polar bear visiting the community a couple of years before. As the only predator on the planet to hunt and include human flesh in its diet, this story brought home the brutal nature of things this far north."

"My first days hunting started with a sunny view of the fjord and the wind-scoured mountains running alongside that reminded me a little of the Scottish West Coast. After a breakfast of eggs and fish, I got onto the skidoo behind Jan Pedersen, one of Karsten’s experienced guides. Our first expedition would be to travel the fjord with shotgun for Arctic hare."

"My second day saw us back on the ice with Arctic fox and ptarmigan in our sights. The Arctic fox, also known as the white, polar or snow fox, is native to the Arctic regions and well adapted to living in cold environments. They have thick, deep fur, a good supply of body fat and a system of countercurrent heat exchange in the circulation within its paws that helps it retain body heat. The pictured specimen is of a unique, brown color-phase."

"Having taken two brace over a few hours, we secured the game to a sled towed behind the skidoo. Jan then suggested a few hours of traditional Inuit ice fishing with handlines and hooks baited with rubber lures. Cutting a one-meter deep hole into the hard-packed ice with a sharp metal tipped spear offered a welcomed warm up. The cold-water fish were hungry; soon we had hooked around 12 Arctic cod, which grow to 30cm long and are the favorite food of narwhals and other Arctic whales."

"I woke up early on day three filled with excitement about my traditional Inuit hunt for muskox, a creature that looks to me like a polar buffalo. The sky was overcast leading to a noticeable rise in temperature making the long journey across the frozen fjord significantly less painful. I had chosen to take my open-sighted .416 Rigby Big Game rifle and its accompanying Hornady DGX 400-grain ammo to topple this large, thick-coated mammal."

"I looked up at what had been a dark sky. A sight as beautiful as a sunset swirled across the sky like isobars on a pressure map. Green hues lifted like morning mist and whilst watching I lost sense of time. I had successfully taken all of the animals I set out to and now I had been lucky enough to have a fine display of the Northern Lights (Aurora borealis). Hunting alongside Karsten and his team and seeing how well adapted the Inuits are to the extreme cold gives me an enormous respect for this ancient and fascinating culture."

What is your Geovid Moment? One of our favorite was chamois hunting in the French Pyrenees.

What a beautiful sunset in the French Vosges mountains. Leica Pro Hunter Philippe Jaeger enjoys it with his loyal (and very cute) dog.
