Dubai Airports continues to support the increase in scheduled passenger flights for approved airlines to and from Dubai International (DXB). On June 23, 2020 UAE airspace was officially re-opened by the authorities and travel to Dubai for tourism was permitted from July 7, 2020.
It is advised that anyone planning to travel to or from Dubai International (DXB) be fully aware of specific requirements that may be in place for travel. For further information, passengers are strongly advised to contact their airline of choice prior to travel.
UAE Nationals and Residents
- All UAE residents, holding a valid residency visa, must carry out a COVID-19 PCR test before arriving into DXB, no more than 96hrs before schedule flight departure time, at an officially recognised testing centre.
- UAE Nationals are exempt from this requirement and will be tested on arrival.
- The negative COVID-19 PCR test result must be presented in printed certificate format by the traveller on arrival to DXB. The certificate must be in English or Arabic No handwritten certificates will be permitted.
- All Dubai residents must get approvals from GDRFA before returning to DXB.
- Resident visa holders from other Emirates must get approvals from ICA before returning to DXB.
- UAE Nationals and residents departing from DXB are advised to follow the requirements of their final destination, as some may require an additional negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate to be presented before leaving DXB.
- Children under the age of 12 and children with moderate to severe disabilities are exempt from PCR test requirements.
- On arrival to DXB, UAE residents and Nationals must download and register on the COVID-19 DXB Smart App.
Tourists
Travel to Dubai for tourism was permitted from July 7, 2020 and the city is now welcoming tourists from around the world once again. Guidelines for travel are as follows:
- All tourists must carry out a COVID-19 PCR test before arriving into DXB, no more than 96hrs before schedule flight departure time, at an officially recognised testing centre.
- The negative COVID-19 PCR test result must be presented in printed certificate format by the traveller on arrival to DXB. The certificate must be in English or Arabic No handwritten certificates will be permitted.
- Tourists with valid visa or visa on arrival do not require pre-approvals to travel to DXB.
- All tourists departing from DXB are advised to follow the requirements of their final destination, as some may require an additional negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate to be presented before leaving DXB.
- Children under the age of 12 and children with moderate to severe disabilities are exempt from PCR test requirements.
- On arrival to DXB, tourists must download and register on the COVID-19 DXB Smart App.
Transit Customers
- Before travel, transit customers must check with their airline and their final destination for specific requirements.
- Where required, those travelling through DXB must carry out a COVID-19 PCR test before arriving into DXB, no more than 96hrs before schedule flight departure time, at an officially recognised testing centre.
- The negative COVID-19 PCR test result must be presented in printed certificate format by the traveller on arrival to DXB. The certificate must be in English or Arabic No handwritten certificates will be permitted.
- Additional testing may be required on arrival at DXB.
- Children under the age of 12 and children with moderate to severe disabilities are exempt from PCR test requirements.

Dubai visa holder requirements
All Dubai resident visa holders who are flying back to DXB must still apply for and receive approval from the UAE’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs prior to travel by accessing the following web address:

Residence Visa from other Emirates
Those holding residence visas from Emirates other than Dubai must apply for and receive approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship’s (ICA) online system:

Airport procedures
In order to maintain public safety and physical distancing requirements, all passengers departing from DXB are reminded to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Only valid ticket holders will be allowed into the terminal building
- Arrive at the airport no more than four (4) hours before your scheduled flight time, and no less than two (2) hours.
- Protective mask must be worn by all travellers.
- Passengers displaying symptoms are advised to not come to the airport and seek medical advice.

Airport safety measures
Precautionary measures have been implemented throughout the airport to maintain the health and safety of our customers and staff. These measures include hand sanitiser stations around the airport, protective plexiglass at check-in and immigration counters, thermal and temperature screening, social distancing markers and increased levels of cleaning and sanitisation in compliance with international standards set out by the relevant authorities.
Check your terminal before flying
All Emirates airline flights operate from DXB’s Terminal 3.
All other airlines will operate from either Terminal 2 or Terminal 3.
Accordingly, all passengers must consult their ticket/airline to confirm terminal of operation at all times before coming to the airport.
