Tell me about your Husqvarna 640...

Did you just say, in front of God and everybody, that you did not own a bolt action 30-06?

And you expect us to take anything you say seriously? Blasphemy. :cool:
I don’t either probably been over 20 years since I had one. And it was only to help a friend out. A old 742 rem. Had it less than a month.
The only use I have for a 30-06 is to make it a 35 w

Well, I’m not gonna bless that with a “like”. But I’ll admit it’s funny.

I can tell you’re not from Texas. :cool:

Even better! I put a Leupold VX3i on the 6.5 and I wouldn't trade it for a new model. Hopefully you get the same results. (The 9.3 shot so well with irons I didn't bother with a scope)
How appropriate--the most underrated yet reasonably priced scope (VX3i) on the most underrated but frugally priced rifle!

@dougfinn, I too like the old Husky's and "somehow" a couple of them have wandered into my possession. Tell me please, whose stocks have you found to be good for scope use ? I think found Bell and Carlson Mauser style may work; same with a Boyd's product. Whose have you used ?

The first restocking I did was with a stock off a Voere that had a Mauser action. It just needed a little tweaking in the barrel groove as well as glass bedding. The second one was a Mauser stock that again required only a bit of work to the barrel channel and glass bedding. I also restocked one that was designated for resale. I came across a beautiful custom stock made for a Husqvarna 640. It fit like a glove. All of the stocks I used were Monte Carlo’s which I like when using a scope.

Thanks, sounds like you got lucky with that custom stock.
Where is the secondary market for used stocks--Gunbroker/Guns Intl. ?

@Flipper Dude
Spoiler alert.
Not everyone owns a thirty ought six. Yes a good cartridge but so ho hun nowadays.
The closest thing I own to onee is a 35-06. Commonly known as the grand 35 WHELEN.
The 06 did give birth to another good rounds the 25-06 and the 280 REM as well as the over hyped 270 that isn't anything tho write home about in song and story. If'n it wasn't for uncle Jack it would probably been another almost ran cartridge.

I’m not saying that everyone owns a 30-06.

I’m just saying that I don’t take the blasphemers seriously :cool:

May the Good Lord forgive anyone who doesn't own at least one .30/06 and especially anyone that would have rechambered a .30/06...

PM me for Theology advise, if you have, in any way, desecrated the Lord's cartridge.
@Safari Dave
The Lord's cartridge may have been the 06
But
Then came along the saint of cartridges the mighty Townsend Whelen and took the Lord's design and made it even better and the 35 WHELEN was born. This pleased the Lord and both the Whelen cartridge and its designer were destined for greatness
The lord looked down on saint Townsend and said well done my good and faithful servant.
So endeth the lesson my son.
The rest is history
The Whelen is acknowledged by those that have gained wisdom thru life and extol it's virtues whilst those poor souls that haven't seen the Whelens light still stumble in semi darkness with the humble 30-06.
Bob

Me too.

It's won two World Wars, by golly!

My family has several bolt actions, a few autoloaders, and a pump.
@Safari Dave
What only two wars how mundane.
The 303 British has won a few more wars than that and killed far more game than the 06.
So a close second to the 303 but no ceegar
Both good cartridges in their own right tho.

Lol nope from fl.
Never really liked the 30 cal.
Would rather something smaller if I thought I needed a 30 I went bigger

Oh, I see what you’re doing here now. I think they call it “trolling”. Hell, the ‘06 has killed more game in Texas than the 303 has all time worldwide. Ain’t even close. :cool:

Well, I admit that I didn’t know what a 30-378 was, so I used the google and found out that it was one of those fancy Weatherbys. We Texans are not flashy, braggarts or flamboyant. :cool:

303?

Isn’t that the sad British cartridge that wanted to grow up and become a 30-06, but never quite made it?

:D

The Voere was from Intersurplus and the Mauser stock was at a local gun shop, Reliable Gun. I’ve never come across any suitable stocks from either of them since. I think I got lucky.

I have a Singer 1951 centenary cabinet sewing machine that I completely restored when I had a badly broken foot and couldn’t work for several months, and a couple of singer tabletop machines from the 60’s.
We seem to have drifted off topic , but in a good way
I believe husqvarna also made bicycles

@Grumpy gumpy
But I don't like their chainsaws.
Jonsared are far better.
