Members, I have bought 300gn SWIFT A-Frame bullets for my open sights walk/stalk Musgrave 9.3x62 cal Mauser ...what are your opinions in regards to the .300gn bullets ?
THE 300gn bullets really are the heavy for caliber bullets ..I was wondering what muzzle velocity will be reached ????? Do you shoot 300gn SWIFT A-Frame bullets in your 9.3x62 Surgeon 1??They should work like a charm Load them HOT if you can
Sarge, I have an oppertunity to buy these SWIFT A-Frame bullets from another hunter here in South Africa for less than halve the price you will pay for new SWIFT A-Frame bullets if you can get them in South Africa..I will then dedicate these SWIFT A-Frame bullets only for hunting then..Eland cow and Blue wildebees will be on the menu as well as Kudu ..Fantastic Gert, you can’t do better in the 9.3 but really too good for less than Buffalo & Eland, it will take anything but maybe a little stiff for smaller stuff !

For sure do that but to make it fully worth while for you I hope you can get more than 50 a 100 would be good, work up a load & shoot big tough animals till you die !Sarge, I have an oppertunity to buy these SWIFT A-Frame bullets from another hunter here in South Africa for less than halve the price you will pay for new SWIFT A-Frame bullets if you can get them in South Africa..I will then dedicate these SWIFT A-Frame bullets only for hunting then..Eland cow and Blue wildebees will be on the menu as well as Kudu ..
If I can have a muzzle velocity of 2350f/s with the SWIFT A-Frame in the 300gn weight while doing the open sight walk /stalk hunting I think it will have good penetration and minimal meat damage ...I would like to hear from members who shoot the 9.3x62 caliber rifles ...it will be much appreciated and if possible give your loads where you use a 300gn bullet to hunt with your 9.3x62 caliber hunting rifle ...Awesome Gert. They should perform near perfection
Contrarily to Surgeon1 I would NOT recommend to try to go fast with them. Their maximum penetration will be achieved at medium velocity, i.e. following the receipe that make the nine-three a legend.
There is ample documentation of this and many suggested loads in the 9.3x62 Journal or in The Perfect Shot II by folks who have individually and collectively a lot more experience than all of us here on AH put together![]()
Because I do not reload yet, I am using the Barnes factory load 286 TSX. They are 81.3 mm long and clock 2,330 fps in my R8 barrel. Sadly, Barnes discontinued this load apparently almost 10 years ago, but I had a good pile of it, so I only discovered this recently when I tried to replenish my stock...If I can have a muzzle velocity of 2350f/s with the SWIFT A-Frame in the 300gn weight while doing the open sight walk /stalk hunting I think it will have good penetration and minimal meat damage ...I would like to hear from members who shoot the 9.3x62 caliber rifles ...it will be much appreciated and if possible give your loads where you use a 300gn bullet to hunt with your 9.3x62 caliber hunting rifle ...

I need to know what the over all length is what members use for these SWIFT A-Frame 300 gn bullets??? I really want to buy the Swift bullets , but if it is not going to work in my magazine box I need to find something elseA great bullet, that will give some of the deepest penitration from the 9.3x62, i load them with RR17 and am getting 2300fps comfortably.
Ideal weight, as you may know, is 286-grain bullets. Good for anything in NA and Africa, except probably Elephant.Members, I have bought 300gn SWIFT A-Frame bullets for my open sights walk/stalk Musgrave 9.3x62 cal Mauser ...what are your opinions in regards to the .300gn bullets ?
Why not? 3.150" to 3.205" is the normal Coal for common loads. ~79 mm to ~81.4 mmI am only able to have 83mm OAL in my 9.3X62 rifle, so I will then not be able to re-load these bullets I assume??
Please provide AOL for the 300gn bullets you use??Be careful of OAL. The 300 gr 9.3 is a swaged 375. The 300 gr 9.3 is second from left in this pic. They got stuck in my chamber even at standard OAL.
The black line is appx where they hit the lands:
L-R
250 TTSX
300 Gr SWift
286 North Fork (what I use)
286 Woodleigh
250 Woodleigh RN
286 North Fork Cup Point
286 Barnes FN Solid

I reload according to what my magazine box is able accommodate.Ideal weight, as you may know, is 286-grain bullets. Good for anything in NA and Africa, except probably Elephant.

Perhaps loading to throat geometry, case intrusion, and pressure are important.I reload according to what my magazine box is able accommodate.
