this is just a suggestion but, perhaps we could set it up so you cant start your own thread outside of the new member greeting area until youve posted a certain number of replies to other threads. perhaps a time limit might also be a good idea. something like no new threads for 4 or 8 hours after registering.

seems like we are getting alot of junk threads trying to sell stuff. whats more it seems like they are all a similar format which means its likely the same company or group of companies.

i think if some member in USA and one in Europe has admin access to delete spam threads as soon as they are posted would clean it up a bit... I woke up and saw about 6 spam threads i wish i could have deleted but i cant :)

Great idea, I am sure that the admit division is working on something.
I would think that the questionnaire to subscribe should be adjusted.
These spams could be coming from a programmed computer so to verify if the subscriber is human he has to enter a code provided by the site, a computer can't do that

None of the SPAM you guys are referring to is coming from an automated source. (That is relatively easy to address.)
This SPAM is all individual humans typing it in. See the thread on AH Under attack.

    http://www.africahunting.com/threads/africahunting-com-under-attack.12518/page-9

This would add one more step for the little sweat monkey in Asia to type in.

I joined a site where the first post after signing up was delayed for review by the moderator. I never understood the purpose of that until now. Not sure what kind of work load that would require but maybe it will make the time between hunts fly by faster? ;)

I appreciate the fact that members really do care and are making suggestions on how to address these pains in our communal asses.

The posts are being done in an Asian sweat shop. Zero repeated posts on the same member name.
They repeatedly sign up, manually, and post once.

Manual removal is the hunting method of choice.

EVERY POST on this website comes across my computer screen.

I am on this site throughout the day (between meetings and life) from before sun up to well after sun down and hunt these twits constantly. Jerome does the same.
Sometimes I get them, sometimes he does.
Those few hours I am asleep there are some that get through.
We are in different time zones and use that to our advantage.
I am determined to make sure this site remains accessible to hunters and provides a great community to participate in.

BRICKBURN thanks for explaining the situation.

By the way the sign up process on AH is already equipped with reCAPTCHA, a verification process that prevents robots (non-humans) from joining our community.

I don't get the motive! Who funds this schnitzel? And, if it is meant to disrupt hunters it is a wasted effort. All they do is ensure the hunters on this site have less wrinkles and firmer thighs! At least that is what I have from their spam lol

The really good point that comes from this is just how much effort Jerome and Brickburn put into this site. Not just once in a while but every day.

    Thanks gentlemen.

And I'm assuming that since these are all "real" people signing up that a manual review of new members doesn't help?

Sad, but you almost need to have new members write a 500 word essay of why they want to join!!!! Ugh....

The manual part is already being done.

You just scared half the guys around the world with that idea.
I have to cajole people to write a hunt report the they are excited about.

I guess the process could have changed since i signed up, or i could have forgotten it. LOL

Yeah, that's why I said almost. It would obviously be an impediment to good folk who wanted to join. You catch a bunch that way though, just by the way they write! :A Blowup:

I work late and get home and see the 2 to 20 that are on there. By the time I get up mid morning they are gone. They are not there long enough for me to be tempted in the hope of firmer thighs. Now if the provide us with exples of theAFTER pictures of some of the female users I'm sure we could tolerate their posts.

As a mod at a couple of other (unrelated) sites if you want to help, simply report the spam and post that it has been reported.

Nuking them is easy and FUN!!!
