I replaced the factory stocks on my CZ Lott (top) and CZ .375 with Bell and Carlson stocks. I also replaced the factory trigger on the Lott with a Timney as it had a little creep. I left it at the 3lb factory setting per Timney. But after I replaced it, I figured out how to take the creep out of the factory trigger by adjusting the long screw at the top front of the trigger. I left the factory trigger on the .375. I had never replaced a stock or trigger before on a rifle and even the trigger was easy by following Timney’s instructions that came with the trigger. Now to replace the front sights with a NECG white bead insert. That’s it for my amateur gunsmithing adventure. Carry on.

Don't forget to slam test those rifles after changing triggers/settings. Cock the rifle on an empty chamber safety disengaged. Then thump the butt hard on a concrete floor. It should not fire.

I took your advice and just tried it. Neither fired. Thanks! However, I was just reading where the Timney will block the trigger sear from firing when the safety is engaged where the factory one won’t. I’ll probably replace the other trigger soon.

I'm not familiar with CZ factory setup except that it's CRF. Does it have striker safety (on bolt shroud) or trigger block slide safety on side of receiver? Oh ... looking at the photos it appears to be integral to receiver/bolt, not the trigger assembly.

Cz 550 is not a bolt/ firing pin safety, it blocks the sear/ trigger assembly. I have been able to polish and set my 2 CZ to have excellent triggers. Safeties have been fine so far. Blocking the sear or the trigger seems pretty even to me. Blocking the firing pin is better but not without its own problems. The mauser system needs to be correctly fitted and if wrong, the rifle fires when the safety is released.

Very interesting and I found this with regards to the trigger in the “set” position and when releasing the safety the gun may fire due to the sensitivity in the set position. The factory triggers themselves seem fine but this is worrisome? I don’t know why CZ thought it was a good idea to install set triggers on DG rifles? Either way I love my CZs.

You can just adjust the set trigger off. I did that on my 458. They did the same triggers on all their 550 rifles- so from 223 short actions to medium 30-06 actions to the magnum DG actions. My 30- 06 trigger is identical and I am pretty sure interchangeable with the 458 trigger. I also adjusted my DG rifle to have good overlap on the trigger and sear for safety. It is well polished so doent feel gritty but there is probably a bit of smooth creep.

Even the mauser safety is not perfect. I once looked to buy a 7x 64 mauser. When you removed the safety, it would fire. Apparently, it can be a problem because the safety holds the firing pin back and as you release it, it can jump the sear. All mechanicals can fail.
