I thought some of you would enjoy seeing this. I’m American but really addicted to hunting roe bucks. This is my personal best of 23 bucks I’ve taken so far. This was taken while hunting beceite ibex in Spain this past week. The outfitter told me the trophy quality exists in this area, but he can’t guarantee having an opportunity at a roe buck. This was a chance opportunity as we were starting drive up the mountain and turned out to be a really great buck.

Congratulations. What did you take him with?

That is a very good one, congrats !

Beceite, (Teruel province), is not a traditional area for Roebuck, they are coming from the Guadalajara and Cuenca provinces in the west. But yes, now and then you do see a very good one like yours.

Last year I saw a fantastic one close to Castellote.

That's quite the add on trophy. Congratulations.

That was what was explained to me as well. We saw a handful but not huge numbers there. The ibex were very plentiful. We moved closer to Madrid after taking the ibex. I was staying in Torrelaguna for this part of trip. I took this buck in mountainous area and unfortunately missed a very large buck in agricultural area on final night. The photos of monster bucks they were showing me from areas in Guadalajara were really unbelievable. I didn’t realize the quality Spain was capable of producing until then.

Congrats on a beautiful buck

Did you get an Ibex?

Yes I took a nice one on 2nd day. I was looking for a representative trophy and took an 11 year old ibex. This scores right at 205 points. I did learn photos of beceite ibex can be quite deceptive, you can make them look extremely huge depending how you hold for the photo. This time of year they were in groups of all males or all females and quite low near the fields. We would glass from above using the farm roads.

This is already starting to look like a full report, but I’ll save my full reports for African trips. This was a very enjoyable trip though. This was my second trip to Spain. I hunted in a Monteria and hunted gredos ibex in 2019. This trip was for roe buck and beceite ibex. For a future trip, I think it will just be spring roe buck. I really think they are the most fun hunting in world.

Dang nice one. I need to make that trip one day!

Heck of a buck. Congratulations.
23 of them… I think you’re addicted.

Wow very cool! Congratulations on both, well done!
