SOUTH AFRICA: Somerby Safaris 10 Animals & 10 Days

Nice write up with some wonderful animals sir, looks like you had an amazing time congrats.

Excellent hunt! Thank you for the report.

What are your taxidermy plans?

Will some of those recovered bullets end up on your desk?

Taxidermy plans are for all to be turned into leather except for the Zebra.
There will be a Zebra felted rug in our living room.
Will be making a Safari Vest, several gun bags and maybe a bag for Mrs B.
Having European mounts done with the skulls.

The bullets - I haven’t decided yet.
Maybe have them encased in some type of clear epoxy for a paperweight.
What would you do with them?

Congrats on a wonderful safari, and thank you for taking us along. (y)(y)

Congrats on a great safari! I have been on two safaris with Somerby and have a third booked for next year. The buffalo in my avatar came from the Sandveld reserve, stalked in the reeds along the river. Brings back fond memories.

I’ve got a couple mushroomed bullets and different cases on my desk. If you have multiple, I bet it would be easy to take a 1” wide strip of excess hide and make a line of cases and bullets and a list of animals. We’ve also put the bullet or case next to the euro mount on the wall.

Thanks for sharing your hunt with us.
Congratulations!

sounds like a great hunt! Thanks for the report!

We did have a really good time.
The hunting was great, but it would have been just as enjoyable even if I had never fired a shot.
Watching the animals, stalking into shooting distance, evaluating the animals for trophy size...that's what made it great.
Not to mention the scenery, the sunset/sunrise, the people who took care of us and the food...wholly cow the food was great.
It was the whole experience and I can't wait to go back.
