SOUTH AFRICA: Safari #2 With BAYLY SIPPEL SAFARIS

August 03-13 of 2023 I hunted with @BAYLY SIPPEL SAFARIS with excellent results and accommodations.
I brought with me my new chapuis 470 nitro DB and my 300win mag R8 Blaser.

the Eland shoot with 180grs speer hot core bullets 2 shots 300 win mag
next time will use my 340wby or 375 h/h

Were you shooting factory ammo or handloads out of the Chapuis?

I’d be interested to hear your loads if you don’t mind. Feel free to PM me. I’ve got the same rifle and it was supposedly regulated for Federal Woodleighs.

Congrats on an awesome hunt and animals. I was there about 10 days after you left and hunted a hippo with Dempsey. I will agree that they have a wonderful hunting operation.

My loads for the 470 nitro used IMR 4831 106grs and fed 215 with woodleigh bullets soft and hornady DGS/500 GRS
same load for the barnes SXT BULLETS
and for the 300 win mag used speer hot core bullets for all my plains soft skin animals .
But I must say a 338 cal 250grs or old proven 375H/H with 300 grs would been more appropriate choice .
