Since my last trip to Africa 12 years ago I've had the itch to go back and hunt something a little bigger and a little more dangerous. After meeting PH Craig Middleton through family members that have hunted with him for many years, I knew that hunting with him at @RANCE SAFARIS was the right decision. This decision did not disappoint! Craig and the Rance staff took us on the adventure of a lifetime. My wife and my son (8 years old) accompanied, as well as my cousin, his wife, and their son (15 years old). Everyone on the hunt successfully harvested their trophies. Not only were the game plentiful, the game was mature in age so we were able to harvest true trophies... an absolute must in my book. I check the teeth on every animal I harvest, it's just one of my things.

My goal was Cape Buffalo and the rest of the family was after a wide range of plains game. Craig and the other PH's were able to find the time and energy to stalk and harvest several plains animals between the ultimate goal of the buffalo. It was incredibly hard work to accomplish all this in 6.5 days, but we got it done. I honestly recommend a bit longer trip if one is seeking a buffalo. The buffalo was harvested on the last afternoon of the last day. You can only imagine the intensity of the moment!

From the food to the accommodations; from the scenic views to the abundance of wildlife... it was an absolute dream! The Rance family made the trip even more spectacular with their presence providing comradery and entertainment.
