South Africa president seeks approval to take white owned land

I would be lying to myself if I said I didn't think any of the current news held weight for concern.
Enough to make current travel plan adjustments, hell no...Each of us has to know what risk we feel comfortable with, I personally tend to dabble in the red more then I probably should:cautious:

If it we're just myself traveling I wouldn't think twice. I am planning a trip that includes children age ranges from 7-14. That gives me reason for concern. Anything else is a hold my beer and watch this kinda thing.

Fully agree...adding the factor of family makes my risk vs reward bottom to the safe side.

I have a ton of experience dealing with a dishonest media. I am American, white, southern, Christian, pro-gun, and a conservative/libertarian. Almost 93% of media in the USA are liberal democrats.

Don't hide behind the " dont believe everything on the internet" dismissal.

I think I notice a pattern. If something is unpleasant, doubt its existance.

Why would media cover something up?

Stated in the text above mine

Yet other posts mock others for reading a direct quote from zuma and say smug things about not believing everything you see on the net.

I think I notice a pattern. If something is unpleasant, doubt its existance.

I'm not sure if you include me in the group of "others". My previous post regarding the media was to say I don't trust the American media any more than I do that from Africa or anywhere else. This is not to say I don't believe there are problems there that need to be dealt with as the feeling I get is that things are getting worse.

I also don't think anybody else here on AH is flat out denying the existance of the violence against white farmers. I do think some are trying to gauge what that means as a whole. While I would not cancel a trip at this point, I do have concerns for the future of SA. Mr. Zuma seems a twin of Uncle Bob to the north. However he seems to lack the absolute control of the military that Mugabe still seems to retain. At least for the moment there is still a constitution in SA that appears to be followed.

I hope that will continue, but I have my doubts.

I was editing my post when you posted phoenix. Nothing was meant to any single person but just an observation.

I posted links to stories with zuma's quotes. Some (ive lost track of who) said things about trusting news on the internet. The president said these things. Fact.

Would I still travel to SA or Namibia?
Yes, for now

Would I ever consider living or investing there?
Absolutely not.

I would like to consider moving to Africa someday but the political climate and the crime and corruption rule out the idea.

I am very concerned for the citizens.

More like if it conflicts with their liberal agenda ignore its existence. Social engineering through censorship is the medias mantra

No issue taken. I don't think anyone here needs much convincing that Zuma represents anything good for his country.

Total agreement there.

ICQ,

Don't even get me started on social engineering. The GLOBAL left have been doing it for decades in US. I believe it started in the 50's. I will spare everyone the volumes I could write on this and state only the following on social engineering: I believe the same "global leftists" that has been active in the USA also were very active in colonial Africa in the same time frame, with much more success.

Lot of embellishment going on there. ANC is losing seats quickly and Zuma is flailing a bit on his way out

Do you think the new president will be any better? I do not, likely worse.

The way I've been reading up until now is the ANC is divided by this and the Democratic Alliance, which now controls 5 major metropolitan areas, is against it and could challenge for the presidency

Has the DA ever stood up for Afrikaner/white/land owner rights before?

The DA may very well be better than the ANC but I severely doubt they will improve the plight of the Afrikaner that owns land.

Liberals saving you from racially charged communism seems odd to me.

Im not trying to be insensitive to anyone here but I get the vibe that DA is just some group led by white socialists that only want to protect themselves.

Makes me wonder if Obama has been whispering in the ear of these African dictators. That man has set race relations back 50 years in the USA.

I head for SA in September, Maybe I just sleep with the rifle close by.

I hunted in Namibia for the last two years and talked to my PH about the purchase of land in Namibia and was told that it would never happen as the government would not allow it.

It may very well be the the DA is full of liberals, but when looking at the choices: DA, ANC, or EEF -- it will come down to the lessor of the evils and today that the DA. I suspect that the next RSA president will be from the DA. And Zuma can retire with this wives and Swiss bank accounts.
