Is anyone familiar with Joubert Prohunt? They come highly recommended from a "friend of a friend," but I'd like a few more testimonials. Also, they apparently have two concessions, "Vaalwater" (about 2.5 hours north of Joberg, and the "River Lodge" on the Limpopo River, bordering Zimbabwe. Any information would be appreciated.

I just returned from a hunt with JPH Pro Hunt. Had the time of my life! You are in excellent, capable hands when you hunt with them. Go! And their referral to Sifiso to guide my wife and I in Victoria Falls for an after-hunt tour outstanding as well. Have Gracy Travel do your booking for flights and gun handling if you bring them or...rely on JPH PRO Hunt's well stocked gun cabinet to supply the caliber you need for whatever you are hunting. I did and am totally satisfied. Used 5 different calibers including a 470 Blazer NE. All shot spot on and smoothly. Using the PH's guns saves a lot of time and aggravation in airports. However, Gracy Travel will smooth the way for you should you choose to bring your favorite firearms. Safe travels and good luck!

Thanks….appreciate the response. I just got back from my first safari, and used the Outfitter’s gun (not JPH), and was a little disappointed. My “choice” was .308 or 416. I didn’t want to use an elephant gun on plains game, but felt a little undergunnned for a large waterbuck and Kudu. Fortunately, we recovered them both, but not without a 3 day stalk on the waterbuck, shot through the sternum and front shoulder at 180 yds, 1” off dead center. unfortunately, he was angling ever so slightly, and the bullet missed vitals. I doubt he’d have gone as far if /I’d have been using my 300 Win Mag and a 200 gr AccuBond. So I’ll be “dealing with” the hassle this time.

Dutchlund...Both those calibers mentioned would do the trick with spot- on shooting...which is commonly NOT the case in real life. 416 a bit over gunned for waterbuck. Fortunately, JPH Pro Hunt has a full complement of Calibers to suit any game sought after. Welcome back and hope you had an EPIC hunt experience. Glad you were able to recover your waterbuck!

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
