SOUTH AFRICA: Great Trip With KMG Hunting Safaris

Very nice. Thanks for taking the time to prepare a report. Some beautiful properties!

:A Bravo::A Bravo::A Bravo: Thank you for taking us along. Your pictures help me being transported to where you were hunting, and feeling like I was just behind you looking over your shoulder.

The only place I've been in Africa is South Africa (Limpopo, EC & Kalahari), and have loved all but one of the three adventures. I hope one day to venture into more remote/exotic places. But if this was the last place I visited, I'll have to say that the Kalahari & Eastern Cape are beautiful places.

What are you doing with the animals you took, shoulder or euro mounts?

Great report and thanks for all the pictures and taking us along. Congrats on a wonderful hunt.

Congratulations on your successful hunt, I really liked reading your hunt report. Entertaining reading, you have a unique writing style. Very enjoyable!

Thanks for the kind words @Greenhorn @USN @gillettehunter @PARA45 @BourbonTrail @7mmFan @Mark Biggerstaff @Trogon

EC is a wonderful region, with incredibly diverse country that I really appreciated - I'd love to get back and explore more if it. There are some Boer War significant sites scattered about that I'd also like to explore.

It does take a bit of (first world) effort to take pictures along the way - I find it is a bit of balance between fully soaking up the moment on one hand and trying to look for and capture images to remember it by and share the essence of the experience with others.

The skulls and hides are with Splitting Image, getting close to being shipped. I'll be having shoulder mounts done here by Mario at Melbourne Taxidermy Services - he is top bloke and does excellent work, as can be seen below.

One piece of history I found fascinating was that each family was issued a cannon upon disembarking the ship that brought them and that would then have the be added to the wagons of other items leaving arrival port. Cannon shot and powder would probably take a separate wagon and team of pack animals. Thinking was provide a buffer to the ports where the major trade took place. ie ivory etc. I saw this at the home place during a trip to EC when PH needed to stop by during a trip there. They still had the cannon and said during trip from Europe training was conducted at sea so everyone was familiar with operations. Now I want a cannon.

Cool - I'd not heard about that.

Great idea - your ATF should be fine with that, 2A and all (y)

A few of us from an Australian forum get together each year for a weekend - usually a cannon or two on hand :)

The targets are as impressive as Howie :)

Someone in the group could be in a prop department in Hollywood, we've had pirate ships, Panzers and even a 'rona virus bug - will try and track down some pics.

HI all, here is a Short update on our America trip, I currently in Houston and have 2 more meetings here before movings North toward Oklahoma, Missouri and Iowa, and from there I will head to Colorado and Idaho,I have been met with great hospitality and friendship, and have met several new and old clients and we are going to book the rest of 2025 season quick and have several dates booked for 2026!
That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
