SOUTH AFRICA: Buffalo & Sable

Neil M: Safe travels and good luck on your upcoming trip. My April 2020 trip will be with my girlfriend. I may give myself a 2020 retirement trip back again.... Just can't stay away. I will never forget the buffalo hunt details. Look forward to your report.

Great trophies. Did you happen to use Solids on all follow-up shots after the buff was first hit? This may have closed the deal a lot sooner (although the swifts kept it interesting! 350 gr Woodleigh SP and Barnes Solid even better in .375-like a .416!) Perhaps you saw Kevin Robertson's mention of this...When I first read of your swift a-frame passing through the animal, I was thinking to myself (this cannot be with a buffalo! but you were talking about sable.) A well-placed solid on the 2nd shot would've immediately put the animal down. I'm surprised the PH didn't make mention of this! Glad you all lived to tell about it!! If you ever do it again, Swift on the first shot and Barnes solids on all follow ups. You'll be glad you did. Didn't sound like it got too "interesting" until the last shot when he was facing you. They nearly always do that after being shot and when you approach. Luckily it was in the open where you could see him!

Great job. Congrats.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
