She just happened to shoot her first Gemsbuck today in Namibia!

Haven't locked in the specific date yet but close. Looking at the end of April or beginning of May and hunting with Choice Africa Safaris. The 3 main animals I am looking to hunt are Sable, Roan and Black Impala. My shipment from my 2024 hunt is supposed to arrive in the next 2 weeks so maybe will add a couple of animals once I get those on the wall.

Is that who you hunted with last year? Was it also a bow hunt? What animals are you waiting for to arrive?

I hunted with Karoo Legacy Safaris last year with my dad and hunted rifle only. I came away with Blesbok, Kudu, Gemsbok and Nyala as well as a cull Kudu. My dad shot a magnificent Cape Buffalo and a few other animals. I switched to Choice Africa Safari because some friend shave hunted archery with them several times and gave a very high recommendation. This will be my first hunt of this type with my crossbow so I wanted someone with more experience than me for different situations.

Take a dozen bolts and an equal number of broadheads you are comfortable with. That should get you through.

If they are truly prepared for archery hunters they likely have a backup xbow in camp or have quick access to one

Those are some great mounts. I love the Nyala, we are doing something similar on a wildebeest this year. I have never heard of Choice, but you have a good reference from a friend about hunting archery, so there is nothing better than that.

Since the years ago when they used to pay us $30 for each Jackel we shot, we always brought an extra dozen just for that. I guess I like to shoot, a dozen is a bit on the low side for me lol.

When I’m going without specific targets I’ll drag along 2-3 dozen arrows, but if my list is 3 animals for about 12k I try to limit the opportunities to spend more

I looked up Choice African Safaris, but they lost me when the 2-year-old price list on their website showed that warthogs are $1,000! No thank you.

I have never hunted with them. But I took a minute and just looked up their website. The prices listed are from 2023, so I dont know if they are still accurate, but they had some very fair pricing. I have bowhunted with quite a few people in RSA over the years, and I can say I was impressed with the entire operation at African Barefoot Safaris.
