Just home from South Africa and we were fortunate enough to bow hunt one of the most amazing places we've ever been. Yes it was a high fenced national park but inside that 65,000 acres was a totally natural environment where all of the animals are self sustaining and lions form and hunt in prides and rhinos and elephants and cape buffalo roam . For those that believe all high fenced areas in Africa are canned you really need to think again. Hunting is used strictly as a management tool to control population numbers in the park and operates alongside photographic safaris. Due to the unique nature of this park and the high population of rhinos we were asked not to reveal its name nor location but this is a true jewel in South Africa and a bow-hunting only paradise. We consider ourselves blessed to have experienced it. If you are looking at a bow hunting safari in Africa, this is the real deal. Thanks so much to Gerrie Theron of Theron African Safaris Pty Ltd. for sharing this with us!

We just stayed in a rented house with Gerrie on this trip. It had an archery range in the back and a game processing facility on site so it was well set up. He has his own chef for meals but there are also a number of other lodges and even a micro brewery in the area for meals. The blinds are simple mesh wrapped blinds but very roomy and well suited. He also does a fair bit of spot and stalk hunting. We hunted with Gerri himself but many several other of the PHs and all were top notch. It's not your typical South African lodge safari but rather a very unique bow hunting adventure. We will be going back next year. We did have a black rhino at 5 yards one day that got a little intense. This is real Africa albeit inside a fence.

Excellent! I have heard of this wonderful piece of heaven. I'm sure the animals are well managed and it was great adventure!

Hi,
I remembered you mentioned a dealer in Gauteng regarding a Rigby 350? May I ask who that is? I’m a collector of rigby rifles. Many thanks. John

Hi, I’m going on a Leopard & Lion hunt, I’m taking my 338 Blaser mag loaded with 225gr Nosler Accubond moving at 2850ft/s. Will the Nosler Accubond be an excellent bullet on this leopard & lion? Thanks
