SOUTH AFRICA: Back From My First South Africa Plains Game Hunt... Incredible!

I recently returned from my first South Africa plains game hunt and I'm hooked. It was an absolutely incredible hunt and amazing time spent in South Africa. I'm already planning my next trip. I kept a journal of the entire trip and I'm really looking forward to sharing it here, once I have time to transcribe it. In the meantime, here are a few pictures of the game I took. My kudu was an old bull with massive horns. More to come!

Well done Sir! Africa is magical and that Kudu is a stud. What did he measure? I am guessing 56"+?

Also, please tell us about your rifle and the ammo that you used and how it performed for you. Of all of my African hunts, the Kudu was probably the hardest. We saw a big bull on the first 30min of our hunt but it was a longish shot (250y more or less). I was good with the distance but it would have been a Texas heart shot which I was not willing to do. PH tried to close the distance but the old bull melted into the forest. It took 3 hard and memorable days of hunting before we saw another one. It was the best hunt of my life. I can only imagine how your experience went. Congratulations!

Congrats and thanks for sharing!

What an amazing trip, i leave for the eastern cape on June 3rd, what an amazing gnarly old Kudu...awesome!

Congratulations on a great hunt! Very nice Kudu bull.

Congratulations. You took some great trophies. A few of my best had diminishing condition. I feel it is very rewarding to take an animal at the end of their journey… I did this on an old Buff, Gemsbok, Giraffe, and Impala.

Congrats!

Your kudu is the perfect trophy.
Well past his prime, after passing on his great genetics over the years.
He wouldn’t have made it through the winter.

Congrats on your hunt, good trophies !

Cruiser runs a quality operation. Hunted there in 2014 and 2017. Tiny the chef will keep you well fed. The PH’s know the ground very well. Peter’s pranks will keep you entertained.
You took some great trophy’s. How long until you go again?

Great trophies! You wanna go back as quickly as you can for more? If so, welcome to AHA! (African Hunters Antonymous)

I hunted Cruise
Thank you '68boy! The hunt was located in the Limpopo region of South Africa. The Outfitter is Cruiser Safaris, who was absolutely fantastic. Cruiser Safaris is owned and operated by Pieter and Lizelle Lamprecht, who are both absolutely incredible people and run a phenomenal outfitter. I flew Delta, non-stop from Atlanta, Georgia to Johannesburg.
I hunted Cruiser Safaris in 2017. Was great in all respects. If rifle hunting, I would not hesitate to use them again.

I shot a kudu on my first safari to Africa in 2024 and I am going back in 2028. I do not have a kudu on my list being as I already got one. But if I see one like yours, it’s going to be hard to hold off.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
