An extraordinary safari with Umlilo Safaris! The adventure began with two intense days of Cape buffalo hunting in tough terrain. Through determination and skill, our client harvested a magnificent bull with rock-hard bosses and incredible character—an unforgettable trophy to add to his collection.

Adding to the unique moments, our client participated in an extraordinary giraffe hunt, harvesting a massive, dark old bull. This special and emotional hunt celebrated the remarkable beauty of this iconic species in a way few experiences can match.

The hunt for the Grey Ghost of Southern Africa was equally thrilling. Passing up on numerous Kudu Bulls initially, in search of a spectacular specimen paid off perfectly. What started as a quiet, non-optimistic outing turned into an adrenaline-charged experience. With thunder rolling, lightning flashing, and winds working against us, our client remained focused. In a perfect shooting lane, against all odds, he placed the shot exactly where it needed to be. A truly remarkable end to the hunt!

The highlights of successful hunting continued with a fortunate opportunity to hunt both a Nyala bull and ewe. The stark contrast between the two species is astonishing—the dark, long-haired elegance of the bull standing in complete opposition to the light brown, vibrant beauty of the ewe. This inspired our client to commission full mounts for both, capturing their stunning diversity in an artistic display. No doubt our Taxidermy Workshop will deliver yet another outstanding piece of art!

Adding to the safari’s excitement, our client harvested an incredible Oryx trophy after a fantastic spot and stalk hunt, a massive warthog boar, an old Steenbok ram with exceptional horns, and the elusive Zebra. Each moment added a new layer of adventure to an already memorable trip.

The safari didn’t stop there! Our client also enjoyed a thrilling Caracal hunt with dogs. In this unique hunting method, dogs are released to flush the Caracal into a tree, where the hunter takes the shot. This exciting and dynamic approach is a true test of teamwork and skill.

The journey concluded with a breathtaking coastal sightseeing tour, along the garden route to the Cape Peninsula. Cape Town, Table Mountain, Wine Farms etc. never ever disappoints any of our valued clients during such tours… AND WE DO THAT EXCLUSIVELY with each Safari (no other guests with us)! Photos don’t always do it enough justice, but memories are set in stone for a lifetime, the wine tasted better daily haha, and the views seemed endless - a fitting end to a truly remarkable experience.
Look out for more posts on this hunt with some more stunning photos!

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
