Of course I pointed out: SCOREBOARD, at which point he laughed, and then relented by sending a few photos of the Jeffery 404 they're building for me. The rifle includes a peep sight (just because they can, and because I asked). They're doing final tweaks on the load and pressure testing at the proof house, and the rifle should be in my hands very soon now. I thought some of you might enjoy the photos.

Also, as I pointed out to the buddy who sent it to me, we didn't officially give them the L until 1783 :)

Such a gorgeous rifle. Did they start with a Mayfair or Granite Mountain action, since the mounts are Smithson or his design at least, made me think GMA, but since it’s a British gun in a British cartridge, and clearly a Best rifle, made me believe Mayfair.

Not a. Fair comparison to a regular Rigby Big Game Rifle, Westley Richard’s builds these one at a time as a true custom. So it’s akin to a Rigby London’s best on a Mayfair action…which would run somewhere well north of $65k US. Rigby is the only major British maker producing middle class (south of $50k) bolt rifles today. Pretty sure Westley Richard’s and Holland and Holland start well north…but man are they exquisite.

Have to believe you’ll find this rifle more pleasing than your California era Rigby. Seem to recall it served you well in Zimbabwe last time though.

Cheers and congrats.

Completely agree

That’s a nice rifle.

I have a friend who sends something like that every year. I alway respond with “as long as you thank us on May 8”

Absolutely awesome, as Westley Richards does, so much better than a Rigby !
You said it, not me. I'm not getting in the middle of that one!

The truth is that I find things to like and admire about both. I have a Rigby in 375 (from their California era) and I love it. And they are once again making wonderful rifles in England, as is proper. Of course we have many members who own some very fine Rigby sporting arms!

But I do love me some Westley Richards. And they've been fabulous to deal with.

Yes, I love my Perska. But I have a feeling this 404 Jeffery is going to be the perfect buffalo hunting rifle for me. I had the chance to handle the prototype at the time of ordering and the balance was... magical. The dang thing literally feels like it just points itself.
