Lovely! Waidmannsheil! The stars aligned this past Saturday evening and I managed to take this doe with my H&H no.2 in .375 2 1/2 at about 50 yards.
Thank you sir!Lovely! Waidmannsheil!

Hello old friend,Hey man, great shooting, Congrats, what bullet? 235gr Woodleigh?
That sweet carrying little H&H has to be a ton funner to hunt with and shoot than that giant 8 Bore black powder rifle you sold me, have taken a couple deer with it, you can pack that pinch of Cope in either side of your lip, top or bottom, doesn't matter, after the shot, you'll repack it!![]()
Thank you sir!Very nice rifle & cool old caliber, well done on taking game with her.
What load are you using, I have a few different rifles in .375Ex 2 1/2 in, I mainly shoot 200-235gr bullets but all are bolt guns & none are proofed for the 320gr load.

Probably the .375 Winchester would be the closest I can think of.What would be a comparable caliber to the no. 2 2 1/2? Sounds like a fun cartridge.
Thank you sir! Are you using the magnum version or the 2 1/2?Well done, I've been using my .375H&H for whitetail this year and so far it's been very effective!
Magnum version, certainly nothing as fine as your 2.5”.Thank you sir! Are you using the magnum version or the 2 1/2?
I've used every magnum 375 that I've owned on deer. It also works well on bobcats.Magnum version, certainly nothing as fine as your 2.5”.
Also I admire people who own fine old guns and hunt with them.
Probably the .375 Winchester would be the closest I can think of.
Yes it is a very fun cartridge especially in that old double.
It’s always great to see these guns making back into the field and doing what they were built to do.The stars aligned this past Saturday evening and I managed to take this doe with my H&H no.2 in .375 2 1/2 at about 50 yards.
No intrusion at all sir and you are correct in your assessment. I was thinking more terms of modern rimmed cartridges and that was the best i could come up with off the top of my head. Not to intrude too much into your post but I think the 375Ex 2 1/2in is a bit more than the Winchester, in-line with the 9.5x56 -57 MS - Mannlicher–Schönauer, bit less than 358 Winchester, reasonably powerful & would benefit from some modern bullets if used regularly on game.
In a bolt gun I can up the loads a bit & use any projectiles that I fancy.
Did the Hornady 270gr set up ok on the Doe you shot here ?
LOL.......time and gravity whoops us all sooner or later.LOL, You bet old buddy, that 270gr Hornady should penetrate like a super premium bullet at those mild velocities, more than enough, I would equate your fine little doubles power factor along the lines of the 375 Whelen.
Agreed on that mighty 8 Bore, heck man I had hair and red whiskers when I bought that rifle from you, now it looks like someone hit me in the mouth with a bucket of cool-whip and forehead looks like a billboard ; ]
May be time to pass that monster down to a youngster.
