Hello AHF.....I have always loved Steyr rifles since I was a child. I think I was around 12 years old when my father came home one day with a Steyr Model M in 458 Win Mag. I was simply in awe with that rifle....the deep bluing, the twisted hammer marks on the barrel, the butter-knife bolt, the cape buffalo on the bottom of the magazine, and how well the irons just fell into place perfectly when I raised up the rifle to my shoulder. True gun love blossomed that day.....
From that fanciful day to the day I left for college, when my father would open the safe I would get the Steyr out and just admire it, shoulder it, caress it and wish I could take it hunting in Africa. I swore a silent promise to myself that "ONE DAY" I would get my own custom Steyr exactly the way I wanted.
Fast-forward 40 years....and the silent promise I swore to myself has now been fulfilled....I just received my full custom Steyr SM12 in 9.3x62 from Austria. I have not shot it yet....but the dies, bullets, brass and Africa are calling.....as well as the local Oklahoma deer woods.
If you have a favorite Steyr rifle, please showcase it for us all by posting pics and a description of your rifle....I can't wait to see what is out there!!
