Hi all, hope everyone's doing as well as can be expected with the Covid BS......

I am reaching out to our knowledgeable members in hopes of getting solid intel on South African bowhunting camps near Kruger. I am treating myself to another trip next year and am looking for a place that really understands bowhunting, this will be my partners first trip as well and we are bringing our better halves so they will need attention as well while we are hunting. We are looking for a place preferably within half days drive of Kruger so that we could easily slide into for a few days to finish off the trip before heading home.

Thanks a ton ahead of time everyone!

Gary

@TSALA HUNTING SAFARIS, who is a sponsor on here, would be one to look at. One of our members on here just got back from a hunt with them. Perhaps he will chime in. He has bow hunted RSA once a year for the last few yrs and may have some suggestions.

Hi Gary

We have a beautiful 10 000 acres property in Limpopo that is set up well for bow hunting.Kruger is a short 3 and half drive from us.As Bruce has mentioned above ( Thank you very much Bruce ) one of the bowhunting members here has just left us a week or so ago after a very good hunt.I am sure he would be happy to share his experience with you.

You are also most welcome to contact me for any info that you require.

Regards

Rouan

I can't speak to the Kruger part, but as far as the bowhunting part I cannot recommend Limcroma Safaris highly enough. My husband and I have hunted in a lot of bow hunting camps and none compare to the operation at Limcroma. Hannes Els runs a first-class outfit in every way. All of their PHs are passionate bow hunters and they work their asses off to make sure you have the best chance of success possible. No small detail is left unaccounted for.

Thanks everyone, we are off to a great start!

I second the recommendation for Limcroma Safaris specifically in regard to your desire to hunt with an outfitter that is a "true" bow hunting specialist. There are many outfitters in Africa and elsewhere that offer bow hunts, but very few are actually experienced and knowledgeable to be able to accommodate the special needs that bow hunting requires to be successful. I hunted with them a few years back on my first ever bow hunt in Africa and they exceeded my expectations at every level.

We didn't make it to Kruger but another family group sharing camp with us had plans to visit Kruger at the end of their safari, so I know Limcroma offers the option. In fact, I expect most outfitters in South African can arrange a Kruger trip for you. I would be more focused on finding one that knows bow hunting. Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions.

Gary, please feel free to also contact me for your Bow hunting needs. We don't just only have a great Bow hunting area, close to kruger, but also a Photographic camp inside the greater Kruger, so we can do it all in house.

Hi Gary, I just returned from Tsala Hunting Safaris where I bow hunted. I've bowhunted SA 16 times and Namibia 4 times, My wife and I have bowhunted with Tsala 4 times and they have helped me take many animals on my wish list, sable, impala, bush pig, blue wildebeest, nyala, a huge warthog, bushbuck, zebra, gemsbok with my recurve, steenbok and honey badger. Have also shot some management animals. My wife bowhunted on one of our trips taking a exceptional waterbuck and a great bushbuck. Three different outfitters we have been with twice but Tsala is the only outfitter we have been with 4 times that should speak for itself. Please feel free to PM me if you have any question.

2 pieces of advise-

1. If you plan to bowhunt, go with a reputable outfitter who specializes in bowhunting and has PH's who bowhunt and understand bowhunting.

2. Any reputable outfitter in the Limpopo area will have the ability to set you up on a side trip to Kruger. Bear in mind that Kruger is 5x the size of Yellowstone. Allow yourself a couple of days to see the park and the animals. Amazing place.

Thanks again everyone, and having been bowhunting in SA a couple times with both trips as good as it gets, this will be a tough but fun decision!

Have a look at Limcroma for bow hunting up in that area. They are specialists in bow, and as has been mentioned Buffalo1, it is essential that the PH you get paired with is a bowhunter himself.

Don't you mean you are 4 hours west of Kruger?

We went to Kruger after our archery hunt with @Limcroma Safaris in 2015. Our guide for the hunt ( Franco) also guided us in Kruger. It really helps having a guide that knows the park. We were able to see all of the big 5 in 3 days and had a great time.
